It is almost exactly a gazpacho, except a little chunkier and with a bit of diced avocado and cilantro (Optional) thrown in

And of course, shrimp

Well, not really. It's more liquidy than gazpacho, and uses either Clamato or V8 and ketchup to get the tomato-y flavors. There's no celery or cucumber in it.

This is how I make mine, and learned it from a tiny old abuelita who I lived next door to years ago named Dora. Don't like it? Fuck you, make your own.

Let's get the dirty part over with, ketchup. Yes, ketchup. I myself pretty much hate ketchup, don't even eat it with fries, but this requires it. It adds a little sweetness and tang. Like I said, don't like it, fuck you make your own.

1/2 cup ketchup
Juice of 3 limes (or more if they are dry-ish)
Hot sauce to taste (I use quite a bit)
2 cups V8 or Clamato (I like the spicy hot V8)
1 tablespoon horseradish
1/2 a red onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, finely minced
handful of chopped cilantro
1 lb. peeled, deveined, and cooked shrimp
2 avocados, peeled, pitted and cubed

Mix everything together (gently stir in the avocado at the end) and marinate for 2 hours at least. You may want to add salt, but it doesn't usually need extra. Serve with hot, salty, tortilla chips and beer.
