I'm from Northern Mexico, and the ladies that opened their sweet bread bakeries from very early were the best.
The conchas pretty much melted in your mouth, the pineapple empanadas were great and all the different kinds of bread were amazing.

IMMA need you to calm your tits for a second here and take a good look a the monstrosity which is a apple fritter. Generally, they are mostly fritter and very little apple so don't give me that healthier shit. Due to the nature of the fitter process they always end up being random shapes which causes a fair amount of under and overcooking. The wet dough and the actual apples absorb a ton of oil, with the bumps and ridges trapping even more. For whatever reason they are usually the largest of the donuts, I don't know WTF is up with that but surely there is more calories. Don't even get me started on the sugary, fat ladened glaze they put on top of an already dripping in fat lump of shit.
