While finishing up cooking, I always find some way to warm the plates before putting food on them. Whether it's residual heat from a recently used appliance, or something I must power on to create heat just for warming plates. People give me stupid looks initially, but then compliment the gesture once they realize how right I'm doing it and how wrong they do it every fucking day in their house.

If you have no other way to do it, a few of drops of water on the plate and 15 seconds in the microwave will do the trick
