I've heard good things about Mexican coke, but as a European, can't find it.

Where do you find it in Europe, or should I order online?

>> No.5293683

Can't help you with obtaining it, but I can tell you the taste is mostly placebo. I don't care for soda either way, and there is a small difference, but I'd never pay a premium for sucrose over HFCS in my soda.

You've heard good things about Mexican coke from Americans, the only difference is that instead of HFCS, Mexicans use cane sugar. In Europe coke also uses cane sugar so you won't notice any difference.

European and Mexican coke has regular sugar in it as far as I know, American one has that corn syrup. That's why Americans want the Mexican one

>I've heard good things about Mexican coke, but as a European, can't find it.

It's no different than the coke sold anywhere else in the world, Except USA.

USA coke is made with corn syrup. EVERYWHERE else uses sugar. This is mainly due to the high import taxes and quotas on sugar in the USA, and also due to cheap corn. People in the USA talk about Mexican coke because it's the most commonly available import. But if you live outside the USA then there's nothing special about it. You're already getting the same thing. It's not "mexican" coke that's special, it's "anything but USA coke". Mexican just so happens to be the most common of those available in the USA.

Actually, Europe uses mostly beet sugar, because canes don't grow here, and it needs to be imported.

All Coca-Cola in Europe is made with real sugar.

You can also get it in glass bottles if you want.

>> No.5293944

Refined cane and beet sugar are similar enough that you won't notice a real difference when used as sweetener in sodas.

There's some chefs who swear by cane sugar for candy making and caramelization, but there's no clear evidence for that.

Well its not production quality, the difference i adress is the supermarkets.

Take EDEKA for example they advertise with their care for food but at my local edeka store its a fucking mess. People are unfriendly, treat fresh goods carlessly, rarely clean up broken jars of marmelade, have cereal bars with insects in it (no lie) refuse to apologize or take any action etc etc. I hate his place.

In luxemburgs Cactus for example you get fresh fish meat and fruit of top quality. Always. Plus people are nice and its clean. I got the impression its more local stuff and never a price-must-be-cheap-mass purchase. You can taste it with mangos kiwis and cucumbers for example.

Cheap cucumbers taste like soap. After the 20th rinse, they still do.

Take a trip there and go shopping.

Oh I see. Edeka is REALLY hit or miss, the one in my home village is seriously the best supermarket in Germany. But the one close to where I live now is bad. It's too small, the people are unfriendly/very uninterested, it smells weird and it closes at 6 or 7pm.
Aldi can be very bad, too.
But Lidl, Rewe, Sky and Penny are always top notch. I have never seen a bad one.

Or Edeka in town is your average supermarket. Nothing that stands out in any way.
The Edeka in the neighboring village is one of the nicest supermarkets I've ever seen. Clean, friends, warm feel, you can look over shelves across the market, and their butchers, cheese and fresh fish are top class.

I can't really help you but here in Florida stores stock it because we have a shitton of mexicans.

It's good and tastes as good or better than normal coca cola. But it's not so goddamn good that you're going to lose your mind. It's just a slightly different flavor.

It's pleasant if I'm tired of normal coke and want something different but it's not a dramatic difference. It has a different kind of sweetness to it.

Yeah, every time someone does a semilegit taste test (that is, actually removing the HFCS and beet sugar Cokes from their containers and pouring them into plain cups), pretty much nobody can tell the difference. To the extent there is any taste difference, it comes from the fact that you're drinking Mexican Coke out of a glass bottle instead of plastic or a can.

(Some also argue that the old school small opening of the glass bottle means you're sipping instead of gulping, and thus "savoring" the Mexican Coke more whether you're aware of it or not.)

I do grab the occasional couple bottles of Mexican Coke, just for the glass, even though they're like $1.79 for 12oz.

Whether people got it wrong or right, one thing is for sure, none of the said they tasted the same, which clearly indicates the ability for averages joes on the street to actually know there's a difference in flavor. Training the palate to prefer one or the other is simply training.
