Would you eat food out of a dumpster, /ck/ ?

>> No.5255749

I would dine and dash before I resorted to that

>> No.5255758

Of course, why wouldn't I?

It's perfectly good food that has just been placed in a dumpster. It's incredibly wasteful to just let it rot.
I'd have no problem eating it at all.

>inb4 whiny ass picky eaters "b-but muh germs! :("

>> No.5255762

-shrug- I dumpster dive all the time, after I started ive cut down over 50% of my monthly budget on food.
Its easy to find good things, you just need to know what to avoid and how to tell if things are still edible.. never go for open packaging, food not wrapped and I keep away from most meats and dairy products

>> No.5255769

Absolutely. I love the idea of eating feces, used condoms, and whatever else people have dumped into there. Sometimes I like to cut out the middle man and just drink straight out of the toilets at the gas station.

>>5255769
Well, when I dumpster dive I only do it in the SUPERMARKETS dumpsters, not private peoples.... and supermarkets usually dont throw out things not from the stores in their big containers.

>> No.5255787

>>5255769
Two questions:

1.) Why would there be feces/used condoms in a bag of old groceries in the supermarket trash?

2.) Do you honestly believe that just because you get the exact same package of crisps inside the store instead of in the metal box outside that it is cleaner or safer?

Fucking naive kids on this website, I swear.

>> No.5255800

If it was sealed I would but unless somehow I end up homeless I'm never going to actually dumpster dive.

Maybe you should focus on learning to read first you thick fucking mongoloid.

Nowhere in my post did I say I eat out of the garbage.

I was pointing out how fucking moronic it is to go:
>"Oh, this loaf of bread was on the shelf 20 minutes ago, and it was perfectly fine then, but the simple act of sealing it in a bag and placing it in a box outside the building has made me not want to eat it!"
YOU'RE the reason there is so much waste in the world.
YOU'RE what's wrong with the West.
You are a worthless piece of shit and are literally too fucking stupid to save.

I fucking hate you and I hope you die.

Supermarkets bag everything into categories of baked goods, chilled goods, ready to eat, frozen etc... and throw them into very clean separate bins from typical waste. Everything is double bagged, and in a relatively clean container.

I encourage everyone to dumpster dive, rather than letting all the food they throw out go to waste. I donate most to homeless people, because I can not eat 200 croissants (any supermarket with a bakery will throw away so many fucking croissants, danishes and doughnuts)

This.

I actually dumpster dive on a regular basis.
I usually avoid dairy and meats, though.
I have some friends who will take meat, and they've never been sick from it, but I'd rather not take that risk..

But you can find perfectly good fruits, vegetables, bread-stuffs, etc.
Pretty much anything you like.

I probably only actually spend about $25 a month in stores on food, and I eat very healthy.
I eat better diving out of dumpsters than people who don't.

I worked in a grocery store and saw what stores threw out. I started looting those things immediately.

I've picked non-edible things out of dumpsters before, like guitars, stereos, wooden chairs, a wooden bench, a metal lamp, etc. But NEVER would I ever eat food from a dumpster. It's just plain old unsanitary and not a good idea at all. IDK if it is still wrapped, you have no idea how long it's been there, what or who has touched it, and what sort of germs/animal feces/piss/bacteria/etc. is on it. It's just not a good idea. I'd rather go forage in a park or forest for edibles.

What do private property laws have to with with whether or not urbanized land is considered part of the land or not?

>> No.5257021

If it's packaged sure.
Supermarkets frequently toss products just for visual/minor things that could ruin their reputation, like dents or squashed bread.
If you're really poor and can get away with dumpster diving there's nothing wrong with it.

So you don't consider vast tracts of forest to be "part of the land" if they are privately-owned?

You should move out of America if this is the case.

I live in Canada. My parents own 75 acres, the most of which consists of mature sugar maple, beech, hemlock, black cherry, and yellow birch. I grew up tapping my own syrup and hanging out in the woods a lot.

I currently live in a city and am saving up for property. It isn't so bad though, because 89% of the country is public land. I can drive 30 minutes and have access to numberless lakes and square kilometres of bush that I can hunt, fish, camp, ski, snowshoe, canoe, and forage on.

>> No.5257508

>> No.5257514

>>5257503
Well goodie for you. I live in the US, and own several hundreds of acres. (not going to give the exact amount, just in case someone who could recognize me is on here.) I also live near vast tracts of public wilderness where I COULD go shoot, hunt, etc, but obviously I have no need to, since I have plenty of space to that myself. But you know what pisses me the fuck off? Is the idiots who think that MY land, that I pay taxes on, pay upkeep on, and improve on, is the same as public land and trespass on it and make a shit load of mess that I have to clean the fuck up out of my own pocket. So yeah, I catch you, you can pay a visit to the jail.

>> No.5257523

>>5257514
We always get people who want to hunt on our property. If they seem cool, we let them. They usually give us some meat, wine, or other gifts.

If people don't leave a mess, are respectful, and ask permission, trespassing isn't an issue to my family. Land is land.

>> No.5257525

>>5257523
As an aside, and not the guy you're replying to, if they ask for permission then they're not trespassing.

>> No.5257533

>>5257523
Well, as a Canadian, I'm sure you realize that the people in your country are generally more respectful than they are here. I've let strangers on my land before, if they were respectful and ask permission, but the majority that I've had to deal with were not, did not, and left garbage and/or started fires. So, I'm a bit jaded about it.

>> No.5257540

>>5257525
I was thinking more along the lines of hunters.

If people are just walking along a nearby trail and go onto our property it doesn't matter.

Maybe it is because my father is Finnish (see "every man's right"). But most Canadian land owners aren't as protective as those in America.

I met a guy who was shot at when his canoe was grounded on the shore of private property in Colorado. Shot at!

Not the guy you're responding to (>>5257533 here), but I've never shot at anyone. I could, but I wouldn't, unless they fired first. Guns are tools, and not to be trifled with against humans unless necessary. I do have a "hot rod" (cattle prod) that was my father's that I carry and have jabbed a couple of people with it that were drunk and trespassing, (and that was enough to get them moving and stop trying to "confront" me).
