Hi /ck/!
We fried some catfish on a pan and have quite a bit of solidified leftover oil. It's frugal (and tasty!) to save leftover lard from pork, duck, beef, and friends. How about catfish lard, is there anything I can do with it?

Use it for baking.

Will the flavor be catfish-y after I'm done?

I suppose I should clarify, I didn't like the catfish itself because I thought the taste was salty and overly fishy. Then the grease up and solidified and we'd feel bad throwing it out if it could've done something practical instead.

I know the Vietnamese are looking into making car fuel from catfish grease, but I'm not Vietnamese.

make a soup with vegetables and herbs.
add catfish fat towards the end.
Citrus fruit, heat(peppers) and salt will make a nice flavor

A little catfish-y, yes. Would be good in bread for a fish sandwich, I'd guess.

Please go back to /b or something; this used to be a half decent board before cancer like you metastasized here too.

The white one looks quite melancholy. I have a pure white cat and she has this frumpy, frustrated/depressed look on her face 24/7. Its cute tho. We call her Fussybritches.

And oh ya about cooking with fish oil. In the big scheme of things, a little fish oil is gud for u. Might add 30 seconds to your life if you eat. However catfish are pond pork. They're worse than carp. Unless they were raised on a clean farm (assuming such a thing exists), you are probably taking in enough toxins to counteract the benefit of fish oil.

Oddly, Mississippi's laws about catfish farm cleanliness are among the best in the nation.

I once knew a girl named Sassy Britches.
