Every time I've made this dish, it comes out really super fucking dry, mostly because I've taken out the apple sauce because I don't really like it in the dish.

What are some things I can add to moisten this dish up without it tasting like ass?

>> No.5190074

Oil.

Applesauce is commonly used as an oil replacement in other baking recipes. Add a few spoonfuls of a mild oil, like soybean, canola, peanut, or go crazy and use coconut oil.

Is coconut oil much healthier?

Bake a sweet potato and mash it with a little vegetable broth. Use 4 tablespoons of that.

However, I have to say, that loaf sounds and looks fucking awful.

roasted pureed eggplant or vw gluten (as a binder) plus extra water, or even just tom paste or crushed toms

haven't made lentil loaf in a long time. kind of a cool little dish to have for leftovers, even if they don't taste that great

I hated meatloaf before I was vegan. Why would you try to make something similar?

Mayo (not kidding).
But a little oil and water might be your best bet.

You can also use flaxseeds, simmer them in water for a while and they'll make a sort of paste. V healthy and you might enjoy the flavour.

I don't believe there's any definitive proof, but it does appear to have some health benefits.

Because most of the stuff singing its praises is based on info that originates with the producers/suppliers, you've got to question its validity until it's independently confirmed. Like people should have done with olive oil, which isn't quite the magic food that they tried to make us believe.

The key to a moist regular meatloaf is to add a whisked egg to the mix before baking.

I can think of two things:

1. add a whisked egg

2. You are under-cooking the lentils, stop doing that

Also, I recommend augmenting the ketchup. The best meatloaf coating is a mix of ketchup, brown sugar and Worcester sauce. I would double the amount of ketchup, add a spoonful of brown sugar and spoonful of Worcester sauce.

Trust me, I'm a meatloaf expert.

I agree, that recipe is awful.

Google lentil loaf. Find a better recipe, it won't be difficult.

OP here

I agree. It's not the best thing in the world but it's honestly for a bunch of stoners with munchies.

>>5190109
That looks wayyy better actually. I think I'll try this instead...

OP here

I'm not vegan; this recipe just came to me from a stoner vegan friend. I'd like to stay away from the meat, so I'll probably just do what >>5191152 says and 1) stop fucking up my lentils til they are mushy and 2) add an egg and the ketchup/brown sugar/worcester
