I once stole a full bottle of malt vinegar from Long John silvers and the whole thing spilled out on the back seat of my car because the lid was shit. Now, imagine the smell. My car smelled infected for a year after that and people would not ride with me anywhere. I worked at Long Johns a couple summers ago, and every night I'd have to consolidate the unused portions of the bottles into other ones to minimize waste. true story. I was in line at mickey D's like ten years ago, and some fat dude shit his pants. The smell hit first. the guy was in front about to order, and everyone else immediately became alert of a presence, and looked around aimlessly trying to discover the culprit of the sudden grotesqueness. I knew right away that it was shit we were smelling. The mystery was no more when the fat guys pants became wet and he deposited what looked like ground coffee on the floor through his pant leg. He pretended like nothing happened and placed his order, but disappeared soon after. The shit remained on the floor, and everyone still ordered. it was disgusting.

See, here's the thing. For as long as I can remember, I've only gotten the cheapest / bottom-tier items from any fast food place. McDonald's regular ol' hamburgers and cheeseburgers, Taco Bell's standard tacos, whatever.

A McChicken is still $1.00. A hamburger is $1.09. A Bean Burrito is $1.19. A Crispy Chicken Sandwich (Wendy's) is $1.00.

They are a little more than they used to be, and the selection's definitely thinner than it was, but the fact is that I can still go to a fast food place and load up on my old favorites for next to nothing.

The higher-priced "premium" items never interested me because as soon as I start paying that much, I might as well go to a better "fast-casual" place like Chipotle or Panera, or just stay at home and make food myself.

It's always amazed me that the most basic fast food items have changed so little. I find it comforting, actually.
