Hey /ck/,
I've been a vegetarian for the past 2 years (lacto - ovo). One of my main joys in life is bodybuilding. As such, I need to get around 170 grams of protein a day, and this can be kind of daunting without a whey isolate shake made with milk (around 92g of protein). I'd like to learn some other simple meals I can make with a good amount of protein so I can ween off my reliance on whey.

As of now, I mostly eat
-Cheese ravioli's with a veggie sausage, bread, marinara sauce and hot salsa
- Veggie burgers with mixed greens, franks red hot, pickles on stoneground wheat
- couscous
- zatarains rice and beans
- vegetarian can of beans
- occasionally broccoli calzones, thai vegetable curry, thai tofu basil

Any suggestions of high protein foods, and if possible cheaper and easy to make would be wonderful. Thanks

Get soy protein powder you cunt, do you even google

meeting your protein requires should be pretty simple if you're bulking, but it'll be nigh-impossible on a cut. Protein is never the major macro in a plant. Even things like legumes and nuts, which have a pretty good amount of protein, are mostly carbs and fats respectively. If you need to end up consuming 5+ grams of carb for every gram of protein, you might not be able to hit your protein level while still not going over your deficit.

A lot of the carbs in legumes are just fiber though. Lentils are a protein powerhouse. 170 grams of protein would be hard to hit mostly because everything has fiber which just plain makes it hard to stuff your face. 3 dry cups of lentils would give you 150 grams of protein for about 1800 calories, or 1300 calories if you factor out the fiber. Eat lots of cruciferous vegetables, some nuts, and some other grains like oats or brown rice on top of that, and you can hit your macros without much problem.

thanks, will do

I've been bulking pretty fine thanks to the shakes and lots of cheese, but I'm getting fat because of all the bread and cheese I'm eating

I'll have to buy some lentils, but maybe not eat 3 cups in a sitting. I eat a good amount of almonds, and oats in the morning for the slow burning complex carbs

Lotsof brown rice... And Google seitan. Seitan will solve all your veg protein issues and it's easy to make

Almonds and oats are good food in general and they do have protein, but like that guy said, they're mostly fat or carbohydrate with some moderate protein. Legumes I think have the highest protein content in the plant kingdom, and lentils are especially good for losing weight because a big chunk of their "calories" is indigestible fiber. Just spread them out throughout the day and try to eat them with tomato and lime. I can cook a cup of dry lentils and eat it all with just a bit of lemon pepper sprinkled on it, but you ain't gonna sit down to 3 cups (9 cooked) of lentils in one go and get all your protein at once.

I'm about to make some oats myself. Steel cut, because I'm a tough guy.

Most male chicks are destroyed, for various reasons. Even the tiniest egg farms do it. Roosters are a nuisance.

because I rely on whey isolate for enough protein and eggs are snuck into so many foods its a nuisance to eat anywhere but home. I have quit drinking milk in favor of soy milk, and don't consume eggs unless they are snuck into something else

Why not pea/rice/hemp/artichoke protein? They're pretty cheap on truenutrition.com, and they don't seem to cause "protein farts" dudebros are always complaining about.
