As I understand it, it is illegal to catch female lobsters who are carrying eggs. However that refers to them carrying the eggs under their tail, after they have been grown in the body first. This lobster still has the eggs inside the body, not under the tail. As far as I know the law about egg-carrying lobsters only refers to them once they're carrying the eggs externally. I don't think you can tell at a glance if a lobster is carrying eggs internally.
