I like UNO pizza, it's been so long since I've lived in Chicago that I can pretend I"m eating authentic deep dish pizza (which I rarely ate anyway growing up, mostly just normal "party cut" pizza) just like mama used to make right here in New England!

I would imagine they went out of business because they don't deliver -- that would definitely hinder business in a college town.

They mainly try to market to Hispanic families -- that's their whole "thing".
A lot of their menu is in Spanish, and they have a few "Mexican" pizza items on the menu.

I would say that's actually what I like about them.

They adjust their ingredients to the Latin palate,
so even if you get a plain cheese, the sauce has a subtle spice to it that is very tasty and addictive.

They had this promotional deal where if you came in on Cinco de Mayo you got a free large pepperoni, so long as you asked for it in Spanish.

In my opinion, for the price/quality/flavor, you'd be hard pressed to find a better chain.
They're cheaper than Pizza Hut/Papa John's/etc. and taste way better.

Give 'em a try if you see one around.

Usually cheaper than the other major pizza chains, don't have to pay a delivery fee or tip, don;t have to worry about it getting cold while it's out for delivery or driving it home if you picked it up, some kind of gratification for cooking it themselves I guess.

I've had a few of their pizzas, not terrible, but nothing amazing either. I'm with you though, I figure if I'm going to cook a pizza, I may as well make the entire thing myself at home. Exception to that is the few frozen pizzas I keep around for nights when I really can't be bothered with fucking around making everything from scratch.

Theres a cool independent Pizza join that just opened in my town. It's owned by a guy called John, and he makes really, really good pizzas. I think all the staff are family members too, so it's got a really authentic, Italian pizza place vibe.
