What does /ck/ think of Wendy's?

the bacon mushroom melt is pretty high tier for a fast food burger. of the big chains, it might be my favorite burg. the spicy chicken with that big slice of tomato is pretty ok too.

chocolate frosties are about a thousand times better than mcdonalds' chocolate shakes, although that isn't saying much.

chili and cheese nachos are a quintessential stoner snack. brocco cheese baked potatoes if you're in a weird mood.

overall there are some good things on the menu, but nothing really amazing. their headline sandwich, the baconator, is pretty weak. and while basically all of the chili-based things there taste great, if you think about the chili it's actually pretty disgusting.

Fast-food is a gateway cuisine of the worst kind. It's a bad product, a clusterfuck of flavors and texture that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive fat and salt. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the food itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

Thoroughly agree. I'd order it with grilled chicken and without that cheese sauce for a slightly more health-conscious sandwich but man was it freakin' godly by default.

The gouda chicken brioche wasn't too bad, but they just took it out today and replaced it with a bacon ciabatta burger. That shit is literal shit. It has this sun-dried tomato sauce on top of bacon and a burger and it feels like I'm eating a very dry meatloaf. I couldn't even tell what cheese it was, but as usual with this series of limited sandwiches everything in the sandwich overpowers the cheese.

I can make burgers that taste just like In-N-Out, but there's a shitload of little steps you have to follow.

step 1 is getting the 80/20 ground from a reputable butcher so it actually tastes like beef. I get mine from Ideal Meats in northridge.

step 2 is cooking the burger the right way - just salt and pepper on a flat top or cast iron... wait a minute or so, flip that shit... scrape away the extra oil that it leaked because you just need a little.

Then you put the cheese on top of the burger right as its cooking. You toast the buns on the same surface.

use fresh tomatoes, and use FAKE cheese. all fast food places have "american cheese" which isnt cheese, so you gotta get that kind.

thousand island in the end. My burgers taste just like In-N-Out.
