tbh a meal like that is 1600 calories, if you were to eat relatively healthy the rest of the day (like fruits and vegetables) then you would be under 2000-2500 calories, that soda might add like 500 which can be bad

This, it's still a substantial number of calories they're avoiding with that diet, even if it's a proportionally a small number of calories in relation to the rest of what they're eating.

Apparently, it's the narrow time frame that offends OP, since no one would bat an eyelash if I were to eat a big, fattie-ass meal on Friday night (whether or not at a restaurant) then drink a diet soda the following Sunday afternoon.

I'm a thin guy who used to be obese. I now only drink diet soda. The process of losing over a hundred pounds ingrained in my mind the process of calorie budgeting. I'll find myself going for fast food and thinking "Well I can fit in about 500 calories for a burger and another 300-400 for fries, but another 300 for a drink makes this too excessive, I'd rather eat more food than drink my calories"

This thought pattern has resulted in my extremely rare consumption of non diet drinks even if I'm eating something extremely unhealthy.

My sister used to be fat and insist that she liked the taste of diet coke better than coke. I didn't agree but believed her. Recently she actually started to eat right, exercise etc and got in decent shape. Gave up all soda not as a hard rule but as a go to drink. Now that she only has coke occasionally she admits that the normal coke is better. I think the guilt of drinking Coke on top of unhealthy food just destroys any enjoyment to be had from it. Diet shit makes you feel less of a pig and you're actually able to enjoy it.

Con contradicting your stories but I think health perceptions of food make an impact on the enjoyment.

Sugar water doesn't soak your teeth unless you regularly just have a mouth full of coke and keep it there for hours.
Otherwise it just passes your teeth and the rest of the sugar is removed by saliva. Solid food with carbs or plain sugar in it on the other hand will get stuck and stay there giving off their sugar for hours.

>> No.5144280

Why does someone have to drink sugar water with a hamburger and fries?

Even if they are fatties, by ordering a diet coke they have just reduced their meal by a couple hundred calories and lots of sugar.

Lel, I'm actually underweight, I go because it's a good source of nutrition, if I wanted to be fat I'd just eat butter. Three double cheeseburgers and medium fries will have you strong if you can finish it and keep it down. The trick is to keep rotating food. Half a burger, water, fries, water, burger... Eating just one things signals satiety faster. Have you even looked at what's in a double cheeseburger? It's a nice break from chugging whole milk all day.

I don't understand why ANYBODY, EVER drinks a NON diet soda beverage. I can understand if the taste were vastly different, but it's really not, and the benefit of diet so greatly outweighs lul the cost of drinking a slightly inferior product that the choice is a no-brainer.

Governments should start subsidising manufacturers to produce calorie free condiments like in Walden Farms' product range. And ban everything that has more than 30g of sugar per 100g/100ml. Or give it a sugar tax. Of course, even more basic than this would be a government program on calorie counting. Why doesn't the government do any of this? The same reason the government ever does or doesn't do anything...

The most I'm really getting out of it is some good stretching that's enough to get me up in the morning, and sometimes sore muscles.

It is helping with posture stuff and self consciousness though, that's always a plus.
