I love it by itself.
>>5088518
I know, oops.
And I do it in the crock pot in this shitty weather.
It's incredibly easy. I get about a 5-7lb pork shoulder, put it in a crockpot with lots of salt and pepper and a little garlic, and like 1/3 cup of water. Turn it on high for a couple hours then reduce to low and cook for another 6-8 hours. Once it's all tender like butter, take it out and shred, drain the fat/water in the crock pot, put the pork back in and add homemade or your favorite bbq sauce. Keep on low and let stew in the bbq sauce for another hour or so.

So simple, so incredible.

for those who don't know what it is, it's a Vietnamese crepe called banh xeo and it's filled with pork, shrimp, and beansprouts eaten with fish sauce

times like these I wish I could commit to buying a crock pot. Do you recon a rice cooker could be used instead?

>>5088528
Not exactly. There's no eggs, instead the batter is made from some sort of flour (got it in a premade bag), coconut milk, and beer.

I think my crockpot may be my most used appliance. It's worth it. I make tons of delicious, hearty meals.
And I've only steamed veggies in my rice cooker, I am not sure how a large slab of pork would do.
You could also stick the pork in a 250F oven for 8 hours, with some water in a dish in the bottom rack, it would give you really crispy skin but you just have to keep an eye on it.

And that sounds really tasty. I'm gonna check that out.

Slow cooker and rice cooker are two different things.

Fuck, never buy a rice cooker unless you literally intend on eating rice with every meal and want some throughout the whole day. Otherwise it would be like buying a pasta cooker when you make noodles every few days.

>> No.5088565

>>5088554
I would have to disagree, having a rice cooker is awesome. You can keep the rice warm for hours and hours with no quality decrease, and you don't have to look at it twice. It's literally easier than boiling water.

And mine was 40 bucks, for something I use a couple times a week, yes, it's worth it.

I'm Asian, so yes, I use the rice cooker almost everyday. Just thought I could get away with using rice cooker as a slow cooker. Guess it doesn't work that way.

Big ass spinach salad with balsamic vinaigrette that I made from scratch.

Topped with fresh tomato, cucumber, carrots, green pepper, onions, pan fried chicken breast (seasoned with fresh cracked salt/pepper and blair's death rain nitro), olives, almonds, and paremsan cheese.

I originally got the almonds with something else in mind (a different kind of salad) so I just said fuck it and threw them in. I like them though, so it's ok for me.

Interesting! I have been trying to branch into higher quality oils but I still usually just use Bertolli, lol

I have a great world foods section I'll have to scope out the options for balsamic there.

You rock anon

>> No.5088677

>>5088664
Yea, I plan on getting better oil tomorrow since I am now out of olive oil. My friend bought both of these when we cooked here once and just left them. The balsamic can get pretty expensive though..I guess the oil can too heh.

Thanks, good luck!

It really is pretty easy. Pour vinegar in bowl, add salt/pepper, add garlic, add brown sugar (I used light cause it's what I had, but you can use dark and it might actually be better), stir it all up.

Next add the oil and stir while you're adding it or just put it in something that seals and shake the shit out of it right before pouring it on.

I'm trying this out. Never seen it/heard of it before but I'm no expert on olive oil. It's local though, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Also bought some star extra v since it was on sale for 5 bucks and it will be more for cooking stuff in a pan rather than making salad dressings/sauces.
