I want to make some cookies but I'm out of butter. I have some crisco but I'm not sure if I should use that. Have you ever made cookies with crisco instead of butter? How did they turn out and what recipe is the best to use?

Wow, hahaha, you must REALLY need to make cookies!

>> No.5081356

the texture will not be the same. They will turn out softer.

I have some recipes from my grand-mothers that call for it and in -those- cookies I have to use it or it's just not the same. But overall I prefer to use real butter.

Huh? Why don't you just jump outside to your stable, tab a little milk from your cow and make butter?

I dont get city people...

I did it once. Turned out fine. I think they even have a conversion table on the package.

Also, hide Zed.

I usually buy a lot of butter when it goes on sale and freeze it, it just hasn't been a good price for awhile.

They have a recipe for cookies on the package but I wanted to see if there was any extra tips you could give me when making this change.

Expect a gross texture if you're not used to it. Take your time to really work/cut it into your flour.

I use a kitchenaid so should I just mix it extra good after I cream the crisco and sugar?

I'm sorta flattered I stayed off the list...though probably because I don't post with a name often.

I really only filter attention whores. People who name/trip for a specific thread, and those who provide ACTUAL info (see FF, https://boards.4chan.org/ck/res/5071649)) are excluded.

I'm not sure if I understand the order of the steps in this, isn't it usually cream butter and sugar together first and then add other stuff for cookies and wet and dry together for cakes?

For cake and sablés yes, But these are poor as fuck cookies (the chocolate chips are mine, she didn't use them) made to use bananas that are going to die on you.
