Why are Vegans so insecure that they try to mimic everything normal people eat?

>implying vegan meat and vegan cheese tastes better than this crap

>> No.5074143

Because they like animal products and still want to hang on to them while also enjoying their moral highground.
Having your cake and eating it too.

I don't get this either. I'm not a vegan, but I've had some great vegan dishes in the past. All of the stuff I've had that's mimicking non-vegan food tasted like crap though.

>> No.5074152

It's probably also a way for the more subtle/insecure ones to go unnoticed by those loud "normal" people that judge them.

>Why are candy makers so insecure that they try to mimic everything normal people eat?

also some vegan/vegetarian stuff marketed as a substitute is pretty good as long as you approach it for what it is. fakin bacon was tasty for example, but it just can't be compared to real bacon, even if the word is on the label. back in the late 90s or early 2000s boca burgers were also good, I liked to lightly toast a corn tortilla until slightly crunchy, break the burger in half, and eat it like a taco. can't comment on what either fakin bacon or boca burgers are like now since this was years ago

Oh, I get it! It's because cake and eating is relevant to this board, "Having your cake and eating it too" is doubly relevant! 10/10 post!

That comparison doesn't work since candymakers aren't creating food for sustenance.

Many don't. But there always will be unimaginative people. And if a sandwich like the one in OP pic is what you're used to calling lunch, and you've gone vegan you may want something vegan that resembles it. Plenty of folks eat unimaginative food every day. Why do vegans have to be any different?

What country doesn't do this? I'm pretty sure chinks even eat snacks with their tacos.

I don't think they do it out of insecurity, but rather familiarity with foods they grew up with. I'm not vegan nor vegetarian, but I have done many experiments with meat substitution just for the hell of it. Had a lot of fun sometimes. I guess I believe in minimizing meat consumption for the sole argument that too many people over indulge in the luxury of having meat so readily available and I believe they create a great imbalance in nature with ways that could otherwise be easily controlled and create better situations for all involved. Better farming conditions with quality over quantity, and all sorts of related matters.

Ive wondered about this before, OP. If meat and cheese is so evil then why do they even bother trying to replicate it (and failing)?

I'm pretty sure Europe invented the chip sandwich. Shoving fries in-between two shitty pieces of bread and some ketchup. UK sure loves it. Their food sense is impeccable.

I had these once eons ago and wondered just wtf I ate, I had no idea how to even approatch them till I was told to eat the 'slices' individualy and I still didnt realy fancy them.

On relevence to the thread I had a vedgie burger recently, something about corn, tomato, and etc in it and it taisted pretty good. Before anything vedgeterian to it taisted like ass, but now its actualy getting pretty damn good and Im an advid carnivore. Granted Ill still punch a upity vegan in the face but I like my bit of vedgie alternitives every now and then.
