Hey /ck/,

I was looking to make some old fashioned street style tacos for dinner tonight. Does anyone have any tried and true recipes to set my tacos apart?

I'll probably be making them with either flank steak or carnitas

Thanks in advance, /ck/

Beautiful pic, OP. Just keep it simple, like in your pic. Good corn tortillas, well seasoned meat, onion, cilantro, squeeze of lime and hot sauce if you must. Radish slices on the side, and maybe a grilled cambray onion on the side. (Substitute scallion if you don't have cambray onions). If your tacos end up looking like your pic you'll have nailed it.

I'd go for carnitas, if you have the time...

Gluten free flour tortillas, ground beef cooked with taco seasoning, iceburg lettuce, american cheese. A little chopped tomato if you're feeling adventurous.

Buy your tortillas from a tortilleria if you can. Buy some kind of offal like buche or chicharrones and fry it in lard. Dip the tortillas in the lard and fry it on the pan. The meat infused lard gives the tortilla so much more flavor. Don't be afraid to use some salt. If your meat taste meh, need more salt.

Chicharron isn't offal. Not everything that isn't beef tenderloin is offal. Stop being so white.

If you're going to make carne asada, Marinate it with either soy sauce , beer or both. Its the Mexican way.

If you're going to make carnitas, marinate it with milk or coke

I like mixing cubed up yam with a good chorizo for taco filling.
