I remember once when I was younger and trying to make brownies we were out of oil. There was apple cider vinegar in the cabinet where the oil was and my child brain figured it was sort of the same color and in the same place so I used that.

Do not recommend.

Other than that I can't think of any time where something I made has turned out that badly. I usually have a fairly innate sense of what will work and what won't.

Mixed up the baking soda:powder conversion and added a shitload of the latter.

If there's a better way to make muffins taste like iron I don't want to hear it.

Last night I was drunk and tried to make cottage pie.
The meat sauce was grey, I forgot salt and pepper, I was impatient so it didn't get brown on top, bland taste, burned the roof of my mouth.
Next time I'm drunk I'm ordering pizza.

I've made cottage pie before a few times and it has always turned out OK, this time though it wasn't great, I did manage to eat the leftovers for lunch today and was tempted to put ketchup on it. Hate throwing out food.

That looks like Canned Ham, like, an oval Spam loaf, but bigger, its steamed pork bits and gelatin, more akin to headcheese than ham. The product is cooked in the can.

These were supposed to be chamomile cupcakes.
Ended up turning them into a blackberry honey chamomile mini trifles last minute.

I made a custard pie when I was a teenager with salt instead of sugar. It called for a cup. My mom used to keep her salt and sugar in tins that looked exactly the same and I was too stupid to check.

My latest fuckup was oversteaming the broccoli. Figured it would take 20 minutes. Checked it and sure enough it was mush. Can't even eat it.

Was making a pizza with my now-ex, he wanted to read the ingredients to me so I let him. Turns out he didn't know the difference between teaspoon and tablespoon, so it ended way too much baking powder (or soda? forget) and the pizza tasted like salty biscuits. (murrkan biscuits, the round dense bread.) Crust puffed the hell out. Basically inedible, we ate the cheese, toppings, and sauce off the top.

I don't know what tempering is.
When I dip things in chocolate I just melt chocolate. What could be simpler?
I never got something like OP, that seems to be chocolate cake frosting there.
