We didn't put too much effort into this, but I followed all the instructions and it turned out nice. Right now I'm enjoying some frozen root beer I prepared earlier, my own recipe.

Frozen Soft Drink
Ingredients:
1 can sugary carbonated beverage

Pour beverage into 12 fl. oz. plastic (non-disposable) cup. A larger cup may be used to provide a vessel for the drink to expand while freezing. Put in freezer for ~1 hour. Eat using metal spoon by scraping surface to create a well, then scraping sides and bottom.

Serves:1

This works with non-carbonated drinks, too, but the carbonation makes the ice lighter. However, if you leave it in for too long, there'll be a layer of ice on top, then an air pocket, then the rest of the drink. You can do the same with Kool-Aid or sugary tea, but the ice will be harder and the surface will have a film of sugary residue on top. I can't say for sure what happens with diet soft drinks, because I hate them and never willingly do this to them.
