A 3D F-35 red velvet cake I made. Not perfect, but not bad for my first attempt. How'd I do, /ck/?

I'd like to laugh at you but it's better than I could probably do.

I'm not real happy about how frosting it turned out. I froze the damn thing, but even then the sides I had already cut were super crumbly leading to red specks in my frosting

>> No.4864390

Dont listen to the 4-chan cake elitists, I love it, and taste will always triumph looks. I mean what I've had of designer cakes, they always taste like shit, and the cake is stale under the fondount or whatever it is, which is also nasty.

But one time it was a meatloaf cake, with jerky deer antlers, My fav.

That sounds pretty cool actually. If I did this cake over again, I would frost the whole thing the way i frosted the piece that I made into the cockpit: out bowl of frosting into hot water bath, mix in a tiny bit of water to the frosting, stir for a few minutes, pour evenly over cake, making sure it runs down the sides. I did that with the cockpit and there were no crumbs. Alas, I had already frosted the rest of the cake when I thought of it

Next time you frost a cake, put a very thin layer of frosting on first, then let it set, then frost it properly. That should stop most of the crumbs.

>>4864403
Nah man you don't understand, anytime you even touched the sides, crumbs would fall. It probably didn't help I used a recipe for extra moist and fluffy red velvet cake. Poor planning on my part

Now make a tiny squadron of them in different flavors leaving a chocolate and whipped cream trail across the table as they shoot down that giant ship from Independence Day made from cheesecake

The frosting will also reduce its radar cross section.

yeah,
the frosting is a bit of a mess
and you don't have the steadiest hand, do you?

It's not quite red velvet cake if it's all colored in gray

I read that as "covered in gravy" and nearly gagged.

Did it cost a couple billion to find the recipe?

Next time you can do a crumb layer. Just a light coat of white icing, then chill it again before applying your final icing. It helps the icing to stick, keeps crumbs out, evens out the surface, and gives a whiter surface that won't show through the final coat.

I made it cuz I'm leaving for the Air Force in a couple months and I love the look of f-35s. So when I felt like making a cake, I decided to try something interesting

Crumb coats 'seal' the cakes
Extremely thin layer of cake frosting then you refridgerate it for a couple hours then frost normally. It doesn't matter if the crumb coat has bits in it it will be covered up.

Ah ok. Thanks for the tip. I will definitely remember that
