Hey guys, I have a pint of heavy cream that I need to use. I bought it for something, and never used it, and it's getting near to the expiry date. I don't want to make something sweet, though. Savory, please. Obviously, I thought of pasta sauce, but I don't want alfredo. I'm open to any ideas, any unique pasta sauce, or as part of a filling or whatever. Looking for something different or unusual. Any suggestions?

Chicken pot pie, follow the recipe for chef john's "Chicken and biscuits" found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4eDu4Qb_Vs

Make a dough on top if you want, or it's honestly just good as a stew. When he says use milk, use your heavy cream instead. For the chicken, I usually boil some chicken leg quarters. In fact, I may make that later tonight. Sounds like I need to go grocery shopping!

Biscuits and gravy yo

Creamy mushroom sauce with chopped spinach and Italian sausage. Or zuppa tuscana. Or biscuits n' gravy, or country fried steak/chicken with sawmill gravy.

Or a milksteak.

Make a tomato and smocked pancetta sauce than mix it with some cream and top your pasta with it. It goes very well with short pasta like macaroni. Make sure to not add to much cream or pancetta! For extra flavor add minced parsley and/or grounded black pepper

Make a bechamel with it and add some mascarpone, lemon zest and some saut?d asparagus. Goes great over pasta.

Make butter, however, many brands of heavy whipping cream have a compound in them that prevents the clumping of fat molecules which prevents the formation of butter.

Not that unusual but use it in a sauce, maybe a pepper sauce or something similar.
