Roommate's friend gave me her bread machine.
What are some good types of bread I can make with it?

>> No.4846112

I have one and use it all the time.
Manufacturers are all different though so if you look up the brands website and search for the recipe book that is supposed to come with the machine that would be your best option.

>> No.4846115

experiment with some pre-mixed kits for a while.

Hard to recommend a specific type of bread because we don't know your likes and what the beard will be used for.

I don't trim my beard that often...
Does that help?

Use whatever they say until you get the hang of it, but also crush up some things you like and stick it in there, to see if it works well in bread. I usually paste some fennel seeds with some water and xanthoxylum, and mix that into the dough, and it always comes out well.

That's why I'm looking for ideas and recommendations.

Raisin bread.

>> No.4846168

>>4846140
This is good but you need a machine with a raisin dispenser or else you just end up with mushed up raisins because of the kneeding process of the machine.

>> No.4846184

>>4846168
Aren't you supposed to throw them in towards the very end of the kneading?

>> No.4846193

You can make all kinds of shitty bread! The only limitation is your imagination.

>> No.4846201

Use it as a kneading machine. It really only makes sweet breads and sandwich breads well. Since it has a cold start, the crust always ends up kind of shitty. Maybe you could try some high hydration doughs.

>> No.4846207

>>4846184
You could I guess but my machine has a thing you put them in and it just releases the raisin into the pre-kneaded loaf.

Coconut bread.

>> No.4846975

i started with a basic betty crocker 70's cook book recipe
> 3/4 cup warm water
> 2 cups scaled then cooled milk
> 5 teaspoons yeast
> 1 tablespoon salt
> 3 tablespoons shortening
> 3 tablespoons white sugar
> about 8 cups white flower

and just went from there. the white sugar is now brown sugar, and i add a little honey now. a couple cups of white flour replaced by wheat flour, and i purchased better white flour. i add about a cup and a half of a 9 grain cereal mix i picked up at an amish store. this recipe makes two loaves and i dont use a machine, but play with it and figure out how the measurements compare to using your machine instead of my pans. seriously im proud of my bread, and its got to be one of the best ive ever eaten.

>searching for bread recipes

>"take all ingredients, place them in your bread machine, and set it to..."

Fucking dumb, I hate recipes that assume everyone has some specific item. My rage extends to recipes that require food processors, but not as much since those are a bit more ubiquitous than bread machines.

>> No.4847196

I read somewhere that substituting milk for water will make your bread toast better.

>> No.4847267

>>4847019
No, easier. You just chuck everything directly into the machine. It kneads it, and after letting it rise it cooks it.

Not sure if it makes it toast better but you can use milk or eggs as the liquid in a bread machine, I know it does add some nutritional value.

This. For the love of all that is holy do NOT use the recipe that is in the books, it comes out dense as fuck.

That's a lot of bread. I'm lucky to go through a single loaf in a week before the last few slices get moldy.
