BK, McD have competing breakfast menus, both have the sausage/egg/cheese on whtever bun you want. BK's croissants are delicious, but their eggs are whipped so fluffy they taste fake. And they're watery.

Dunkin D's is 24hr breakfast and almost all freestanding stores have drive-thru.

Some taco bells have a breakfast menu and that sammich but I've never tried it.

Hardees/Carls/Jackoff-in-her-Box has em.

Arbys has the most under-rated drive thru breakfast. Not a huge selection, but everything is great. Also its about the only place you can get it on sourdough toast. Get a cinnabon while u r there.

Subway/Starbutts sometimes have breakfast but I go to neither so I don't know what they have.

If you have a Frisch's/BigBoy available, they have a drivethru, serve breakfast, and best of all, you can get a goddamn hamburger with side of liver and onions if you want. Milkshakes, some desserts, onion rings, whipped cream, and soups/salads are sometimes not available early, depending on how fast the preppers go, since they make all that shit each morning.

Dennys/IHOP both have them but not drivethru. Other places like that might have "curb side service". Its just as good as. Drive thru. You call them when you are on your way, then you park in a certain area and they bring it to your car. Fridays and Tuesdays both have it, but no breakfast. Just give it time.

Burger King's Croissan'wich is one of the few croissant breakfast sandwich options available in fast food land and the first that I ever tried as a kid. The Sausage, Egg, and Cheese version comes, unsurprisingly, with a sausage patty, fluffy folded eggs, and a slice of melted American cheese.

My local Burger King offers them for $2.99.

One of the things about getting a croissant from a fast food chain is that the croissant always gets a little flattened, which tastes fine but doesn't look so appealing.

That being said, Burger King's croissant is pretty tasty. It's a lot on the soft size (like if you bought a store croissant and microwaved it), but it's buttery, flaky, and has a good number of layers. You might get more of a crust if you eat it at the restaurant, but since most people tend to order fast food breakfast to-go, I recommend using the toaster oven for a minute or two if you have access to one.

Burger King's sausage is fairly middling. It does its job, but it doesn't really stand out. I'd like a bit more seasoning on it. Like more pepper or garlic or something herby like rosemary or sage. McDonald's does a good job with their sausage, with the way Burger King's been copying McDonald's, I wish they'd copy that too.

The egg was really good. It's one of those pre-mixes but it was fluffy, soft, and warm. They give you two reasonably-thick layers worth.

The cheese was melted to oozing and offered the distinct flavor of American cheese.

Overall, there's a lot to like with Burger King's Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Croissan'wich. Sausage, egg, and cheese is a tried-and-true combination and Burger King manages to balance the proportions very well. If you like croissant breakfast sandwiches, Burger King has a pretty good one.

McDonald's Sausage McMuffin with Egg is the other McMuffin to McDonald's Egg McMuffin (which has ham instead of sausage; why isn't it the Ham McMuffin then...?). Inside the the English muffin, you'll find a sausage patty, a slice of American cheese, and a fried egg.

Southern California McDonald's is currently doing a promotion where you can score two of Sausage McMuffins with Egg for $3.79. I would point out that the Sausage McMuffin without egg is only $1.

For some reason, I've noticed that the cheese is melted better in McDonald's breakfast items than their regular items. It suggests that breakfast at McDonald's is usually hotter and therefore fresher than the rest of the day. I could be wrong though. My Sausage McMuffin with Egg was plenty hot though. I actually had to blow on it a bit to cool it down.

Egg, sausage, and cheese is arguably the standard for fast food breakfast and McDonald's version doesn't disturb that with any surprises. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

What McDonald's version does bring is, perhaps, the best breakfast sausage in the business. It's salty, peppery, herby, and brings joy to my stomach.

For the egg, while McDonald's also offers scrambled eggs on some of their other breakfast sandwiches, the McMuffin sandwiches come with a griddle-fried egg cracked into a metal ring to give a patty-like shape. It's fried, but also steamed a little. They break the yolk so that it cooks through as well. The result is a bit like a non-quite hard-boiled egg that is still nonetheless cooked through. The solid shape makes it easy to eat on the go since it won't run onto your hand or anything like that. More importantly, the egg serves as a nice buffer to the salt of the sausage.

The cheese was very nicely melted and a gooey mess all around. McDonald's sausage holds up well against their cheese in a way that their thin hamburger patties do not.

The Carl's Jr. Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit features their new Made From Scratch biscuits and replaces the Sunrise Croissant at the Carl's Jr. locations that carry them.

They go for $1.89 each but there's a promo where you can pick up 2 for a cheap $2.

I've written about the new biscuits before, but I'll say again: they're a little bigger than the norm, and have a nice crust that's a bit chewy. They're spongy soft inside but could stand some more butter.

The sausage, egg, and cheese are pretty standard but there's really not much variation on this staple at any of the major fast food chains that serve it. The egg here is thin and folded, the cheese is nicely melted, and the sausage, like most fast food breakfast sausages are salty and seasoned.

At the promotion price of $1, it's cheaper than buying a frozen Jimmy Dean version of the same from the supermarket.

Bottom line? A cheap, standard breakfast sandwich. For a buck, you get more than you'd get a McDonald's or Burger King (which has a two for $3 breakfast sandwich promo this month).
