Ramen is great on it's own or as a filler component to be paired with a protein and veg (also goes great with a sandwhich). Traditionally I eat the good old 48 Cent Maruchan Roast Chicken (the only good flavor) ramen, but I dipped into what I like to call the "Fancy" ramens you actually find on the ethnic cuisine isles this week. I picked up pic related, and it was good - lit my fucking lips on fire though, definitely best eaten with something to soak up some of that heat.

OK, I also thought the Shin was a little TOO spicy, my nose was running and my lips blistering after I drank down the broth, I had to sit in a chair and moan for a bit afterwards.

I also got pic related which wasn't as spicy, but was an smaller portion and the noodles were thinner. So overall I liked Shin more even though it punished me.

I was lucky and found a 24 pack of this for only $20 at a camping/survival store a few months ago. Finished my last pack on Monday when the temperature dropped locally.

Black has bigger chunks of the veggies and the broth seems to be more "robust". The noodles are supposed to be amazingly better than other ramen but I can't tell that much of a difference personally. The Black Cup (same product just in a cup) is actually my favorite but I won't pay $2.50+ for a cup of noodles so I have to wait for deals and buy in bulk.
