>> No.4821263

no street vendors in this flyover wasteland

Whenever I have to travel up to KC, about 90 minutes away, I try to at least find a fucking hot dog vendor

I go to eat Felafel, or schnitzel sandwich.

Good banh mi is god tier. In my hood the tacos from our local truck (Tacos El Bronco, one of the best in Bklyn) are equally good for street food. They sell birria in a coffee cup (one of those "It Is Our Pleasure To Serve You Greek diner cups) that'll knock your socks off. The Chinese sell some crazy grilled stuff on skewers that can also be pretty good (especially for the price, usually about a buck). In the summer you can get roast corn and gorditas from street vendors.

Fuck, I love living in Brooklyn.

Gyros, like GOOD gyros with actual lamb and beef and not that gross fake shit they put in at crappy sub shops, are the best thing ever.

>Get banh mi with pork meatballs one time
>motherfuck this tastes so fucking good
>have horrific heartburn and indigestion for 36 hours afterwards

Can't do it again. It was so good, but it's not worth that pain.

Idk some place by my house has a couple different sandwiches they make. Some are spicy, some have different meats and veges. It's basically a vietnamese deli. Only 4$ a sammich too.

>> No.4821345

To me the classic banh mi is the cold cut and pate, but some folks swear by the bbq pork. There's a joint not far from where I work that does a Buddhist version with marinated tofu and mushrooms that's actually pretty good. Many places do a sardine version, but I haven't been brave enough to try that yet.

When I have banh mi I eat some sort of probiotic afterward. Yogurt, kimchi, kombucha something like that and I don't have as much of a problem with heartburn. Sometimes I do have to have two servings of probiotic though.

Minneapolis here. Ours does pate with the bbq and it's fantastic. They have some without pate, but I just can't convince myself to try them when I could be having any of the others.

My favorite street foods are things I can eat out of hand, like shawarma in pita, gorditas, sandwiches, and items "on a stick". I don't want to get my hands messy when I'm eating on the street, and preferably keep one hand free. And I certainly don't want to have to go search out a place to sit down and have to use a fork and knife or anything like that. Street food is supposed to be about convenience. That said, I guess my two favorites are gorditas and shawarma in pita.

shawarma in pita is more or less the same as döner kebab, right? How do you manage to hold this in one hand and eat while walking, without getting messy?
