As a Long Islander, I don't get hot dogs anywhere else but the usual hot dog truck that's around the corner from me.
Where's your favorite place to get them?
Also, what toppings?
Pic related, mustard with onion sauce for me.

there's a bar near me that serves up some fancy dogs and really fucking good beer:
http://redhottacoma.com/

the hilltop strangler is a beast and my long-term favorite (bacon, thousand island, nacho cheese, tomatoes, mustard, onions) but i've been diggin on the 6th ave strut recently. oh and the ragin' cajun.

fuck, they're all good.

>> No.4820991

I usually only have them at BBQs. No good hotdog stands near where I live or work (I live and work in the suburbs).

I tend to like more elaborate toppings. I just fucking hate that "mustard, ketchup, relish" bullshit that plebians have. Gotta have some solid toppings on that shit.

mustard, onions, chili

Grays papaya and papaya king in the city are the best. I also like dogs from bens deli.

These are good choices. Only downside of Papaya King is that the buns are sometimes stale. For a more novelty dog it might be worth checking out Crif Dogs in the East Village (St Mark's). It's a pretty fucking hipster joint, with vintage video games and a "secret" bar behind it, so the prices are a little high. But they're the go to for a deep fried bacon wrapped dog...

Best hot dog I've ever eaten was in Denmark, and I don't know anywhere in the city where they do Danish style hot dogs.

There's this place by the boardwalk called Max's. They have footlongs and I usually get em with kraut, mustard, onions and chili.

Couple of places in Boston where you can grab a quick one if you're working late.

For me, spicy brown mustard and relish. I love chili dogs, but you never know how the chili is going to be when you get it from most places, so I usually pass.

I went to Japadog when it first opened in the city. Wolfed down like 5 of them because they tasted amazing, but by midnight I was shitting and puking everywhere. Dont know if it was the dogs though because I went with 3 others and no one else got sick.

This weekend my friend parcooked some bacon, wrapped a hot dog in it, then deep fried it. It was then put in a poppyseed bun with chili and shredded cheddar cheese.

That was fucking great, especially with a little buttermilk ranch and fried cheese curds he also made.

I was curious about the onion sauce, but it just looks like caramelized onion in barbecue sauce.

You can buy it at any super market. Sabrett makes jars of the stuff.
It's basically caramelized onion in a ketchup sauce. It mixes with mustard really well and tastes amazing. You should definitely try it, if you get the chance.

Dragged through the garden. 'Love it.

Steamed hot dog, mustard, chopped onions; sweet relish, tomato wedges, sport peppers, celery salt on a chewy, steamed, high-gluten poppyseed bun.

I love a Detroit-style Coney dog as much as the next guy, but a full-on Chicago dog is the taste of home for me.

I have never seen this product. In what part of the world are your any supermarkets?

>> No.4824745

If I'm getting hot dogs, I'm either at Dairy Queen and they have chili, cheese and diced onion on top, or I'm at a ball game and it's just ketchup and mustard.

>> No.4824754

I've taken to putting lettuce and Carolina style barbecue sauce on it.

That Sabretts onion sauce sucks ass, can't speak to any other onion sauce.

Whoops, I meant in the US. I live in CT, and I've seen it in other states that I've visited as well. It's a common product. I suggest making your own, though.

>>4824770
I don't think it's too bad if you don't wanna make your own sauce. I personally like making my own onion sauce for my hot dogs.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist over here in the lumpy portion of the country. Alas. Seems like something I would be willing to put in my face.
