Renegade's Magic by Robin Hobb. The story is total shit, but she gets really into the food descriptions. I read it every time I eat.

This series has interesting descriptions of all sorts of food items. All hilarious; in pic related, he allows us to witness the creation of Vegemite.

OP here. I loved the part where they talked about the pigs tail. I think it was in this book, or maybe it was in a different book from the series. I also remember the lunch of hard boiled eggs and bread. Such simple food, but it sounded amazing. I read that book so much as a kid, especially when I ate.

No surprise there. Have you seen this guy?

Seriously though, Martin knows his way around food descriptions. Even something as simple as bread and onions sounds like a feast in fantasy novels.

I haven't read it in many years, but I seem to recall On the Road having some pretty good food bits.

Song of Ice and Fire has a ton of food description
>that honey basted roast swan stuffed with mushrooms, onions carrots and neeps, washed down with pale Arbor Gold and that black ale so thick and yeasty you almost have to chew it
