At Subway, if you want a sandwich to not be toasted would you call it "untoasted" or "not-toasted"?

The sandwich artist said that she's never heard anyone else say it the way I do, which comes as a surprise to me. But, really, who the hell wants a toasted tuna sub?

When I go to a Subway they just ask "would you like your sandwich toasted?" I say "no."
I only say no because I'm an awkward and I'm not sure what to do while I wait 30 seconds for the toaster.

wat the hells a sandwich artist?

Subway calls their employee Sandwich Artists. It's an employee valuation thing, so the Sandwich Artists don't feel they're just making sandwiches.

I don't agree with the practice, and a lot of people feel it's ridiculous. Subway stocks are also plummeting and franchises are vanishing.

they just start the order of the person behind you while you stand there, acting like you are contemplating what gross dirty veges you want. Its easy, don't worry.

I only ever get the tuna. It's the only thing they have that seems worth it to me. I can buy better quality deli meat than what they serve, but tuna is something you have to prepare with multiple ingredients, so it's more convenient.

its what subway calls the tattooed felons they hire to make sandwiches. imo the fact that they hire these people is a poor business decision, no one wants to buy a sandwich from these freaks and it might just be my experience but it seems like they make a point of hiring ex criminals

These stores exist just because people don't want to live on the first floor of high-traffic streets. JSYK.

There could be parking under and no one would care.

For every single person saying that Subway deserves to burn to the ground, fuck you. People’s livelihoods were in that sub shop. You have no idea how many memories that place holds; no idea. Fuck you and get your head out of your ass.

So you insist on having your sandwiches prepared by someone else, but you aren't willing to pay to have them made in a real sandwich shop? People like you are what's wrong with this world.

Which one do you say?

Not toasted is the only way to say it. "Untoasted" suggests that something WAS previously toasted and is no longer toasted.

What the fuck
Does unleavened bread confuse the hell out of you then?

>> No.4795971

>>4795937
Who's confused? As far as my tiny brain comprehends it, the popular fast food chain Subway serves various filled baguette-style things (er, subs). Yes?

When you order you can choose to have these toasted... or not. Yes?

Toasting is when you brown or crisp something by exposing it to heat. Yes?

So, in this context, what the fuck has unleavened bread got to do with it?

>> No.4795977

>>4795971
By your logic, if "un" indicates some kind of reversal, "unleavened bread" (a common and accepted term) would be bread that has been leavened, then returned to a non-leavened state. Which would be nonsense, of course.

>> No.4795980

>>4795975
It's got to do with the fact that it's called unleavened, when it isn't in fact leavened, and then un-leavened afterwards.

Basically, un-whatever can and often does mean 'as opposed to having the thing done to it' rather than 'having the thing done to it, then having it reversed'.
