Just sippin' on a glass of that newish Laphroaig PX that you can only buy in duty free stores. They age this one in sherry casks for a while so it's got a nice sherry aftertaste I can just taste from under the peat. What is /ck scotchin' on?

>> No.4788354

I'm not scotching on anything, because its 7:30 in the goddamn morning here.

>drinking on weekdays

Some people work during the weekend instead.
I can't into scotch. Tried a couple times but just couldn't do it.
So I'm about to drink some shitty locally made grain alcohol someone bought for me. It tastes like bread dough. It's not awful, but not terribly enjoyable after the first couple sips.

Just mix it with OJ?

By 'scotchin', I meant, what brand of scotch do you plan to murder as soon as you've finished work?

I've tried many different types of simple fixes. The doughy flavor cuts straight through them all.

tried running jt through a charcoal filter? Also, where are you from if you don't mind me asking? ...Eastern Europe?

Drinking coffee because it's morning.

I don't understand why sherry cask scotch is so popular. And it's always the "only drink islay" types who go crazy over it. Do you guys realize there are other regions in scotland and some of them even produce whisky with characteristics that could be described as sweet? No need to adulterate your drink with spanish wine. Not that there's anything wrong with spanish wine but make up your mind about what you're drinking.

I'll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion
No, I'm from Minnesota. Why do you ask?

I know they do it everywhere, but the slavs seem to have the biggest rep for brewing neighbourhood grain liquor.

The 16 year old.

But don't. Get the Ardbeg Uigeadail.

It's a perfect scotch.

Makes sense. It's a new company around here apparently. I don't mind supporting them as long as they try to improve their product.
To be honest though, there aren't very many grain liquors I can stand. So kudos to them!

Or, you know, get both because they're both fantastic.

Or dig up a bottle of Airigh Nam Beist instead of the Uigeadail.

Recently bought some 10yo Yoichi and I really like it. It's the only japanese whisky I've tasted so far, but this particular one has a lot more alcohol taste compared to it's smokey scottish equivilants.

You should try Hibiki. It's got a very light, super floral taste to it with some pretty good light aromatics. It's not as much of the deep notes or bite you'd expect out of other scotches.

Currently drinking Pappy 20.

I enjoy a good scotch, but Pappy 20 is just so fucking amazing.

Rye > bourbon > single malt > what the fuck ever.
And USA makes the best single malts anyways.

I am saying that straight rye (95% rye in mash bill) whiskey is the best, followed by bourbon, followed by malted barley whiskeys. And USA makes the best single malt whiskeys anyways, not Scotland.

I respect your opinion, but kindly disagree. Though there are certainly many excellent whiskeys made in the US, my favorites are still mostly from Scotland (and even a little Japan).

I respect your outlook and self esteem, but Single Malt Scotch will always be better than bourbon.

This is coming from a guy who has 5 bottles of Pappy Van Winkle 20 and 15.

How is the Pappy van winkle stuff? I've seen it at my local place but never took the opportunity to jump on it because of sheer cost. Is it actually worth the money?

I got out of my scotch phase to try other styles of whiskeys. I bought a bottle of Whistle Pigs rye and it's one of the best whiskeys I've ever had. It retails for 70$ so it would normally be a bit out of my ballpark normally but I had it for 50$. If you want to try something new and you have the means to do so, give this whiskey a try.

>> No.4789534

>>4789521
It is arguably the best bourbon you will ever had.

I would not have bought 5 bottles at 200 Euros per if it was not very good.

Any of you guys ever try the Aberlour A'bunadh?

I got a bottle of Batch 45 a few days ago and I was wondering what your impressions were.

Natural Color and Non-Chill Filtered, I couldn't resist buying it.
