Local booze outlet, they have alot of stuff there. I'd never heard of Left Hand until some glorious anon recommended me the milk stout nitro awhile back, and it was just perfect. Oh, Texas. I haven't had the black ale yet, is it one of those Fade to Black series beers? Also haven't had the regular milk stout and have only seen it once. I doubt I'll even bother, as far as I can tell its just an inferior version of the Nitro.

Get the LH Imperial stout if you see it, I paid about $7.50 for a bomber. Imperial stouts are pretty far down on my list of beer styles, I did really like this one though. It was definitely full flavored and alcoholed as all fuck at 10.5%, it wasn't as thick and syrupy as a bunch of them though. I had some of it outside in +90 degree weather and it didn't make me want to throw up.

I think they may have one, its low key though. As much as I crave me a hop bomb from time to time, I actually respect this approach. I see too many breweries where half of their output is some variant of a pale ale or IPA, and the rest of the beers are overhopped. Left Hand is cool, everything I've had from then has been extremely balanced and delicious. I also have not had their IPA yet but judging from the other brews I've had I'd imagine it will be balanced and delicious as fuck. I look forward to having one.

Yes, perhaps.

I've never actually tried any of the flavored vodkas on my own. I did once have the Cupcake flavored vodka when my then-gf requested it, but I tasted no discernable differences between that and the unflavored variety.

Not to mention they seem to upcharge based upon "flavor".

MichiganFag here.

I started out my night drinking Citra Pale Ale, nice lemon/orange zest flavor to it. Has a really nice, flowery hop finish too. The brewery (Odd Side Ales) just started bottling too.

The real find of the night was I managed to grab what will probably be my last for this year of Founder's Artist Inspired Black IPA.

http://foundersbrewing.com/latest-news/2013/inspired-artist-black-ipa-to-be-released-in-honor-of-artprize/

It's been out since August 26th and it has already sold out everywhere, I was lucky that the shitty little liqueur store I bought it from had gotten a shipment by accident. It was made specifically for an art event in Michigan and they managed to completely run out of it.

well yeah, regardless of product, buying more is usually cheaper by volume

and most people don't drink only one beer

Build your own 6-pack places are kinda scarce, most chain stores don't do them. At least from what I've seen

>30 30pk at the bottom shelf for $12
that stuff was usually under $10 a couple years ago when I was in college (don't live in a college town anymore so most places don't carry them here).

I remember once having something called "milwaukee special reserve" (despite not being brewed in Milwaukee or even by a traditional Milwaukee brewery) that was like $8 for a 30, and really terrible tasting.

The only two of the super cheap tier beers I could stand drinking were Red Dog and Hamms

I guess it depends where you live. Might be one of the few perks of living in a state that can't sell alcohol in a grocery store (more specialized liquor/beer stores).

maybe its a regional thing, but pretty much every liquor and grocery store I have been to has those usually for $8 or $9

Likewise, Hamms is my go-to cheap beer, even though it gives me headaches if I drink a few too many.
And Red Dog is my dad's go-to cheap beer.

Lately I've become near enough obsessed with Old Speckled Hen, it just seems to be the perfect beer, and I can get a can or a bottle for less than £2 in most shops. So yeah, I'm having one of those tonight, probably followed by a Scotch Sour (With some nice enough cheap as shit blended scotch I got from ASDA, still does the job just fine), might try adding a little sugar syrup this time, since so far it's just been Scotch and lemon juice.

But going back to the start of this, anybody know any ales that are similar in flavour to OSH, if not superior?

My dad introduced to to me. It's hard to find outside of specialty shops here in California. I love it.

Old Speckled Hen is expensive as fuck in the States for some reason, a good deal more than most British imports. I usually opt for a Belgian beer since the price is often comparable (I just learned that "comprable" apparently isn't a real word).

wow you must have the most ultimate babymouth. I think Raspy's pretty smooth for what it is. I love that shit, I just wish it wasn't $10 for only 4.

You ever notice the beer selection on those build-your-own six packs is fucking abysmal? Just buy fresh, good beer for a few dollars more.

Like I said before, it must be a regional thing. I've got a handful of places within 20 minutes that restock their singles/mix a six shelves constantly. It's pretty much the most popular way that people purchase beer.

>yeah, there are some slightly cheaper places where those shelves do get a bit dusty

normally its not the very best of beers, they aren't putting limited release stuff in there, but there is still a pretty good selection, especially for someone just starting out drinking good beer who wants to try a variety of things

I think the primary utility is for trying a bunch of things, either for yourself or if you are having people over and don't want to buy only 2 different kinds of beer maybe

Not beer but I love this so much.
Just that with a glass full of ice, nothing else, perfect.
