Either way for me. If I'm making it just for myself, I tend to leave it out, but if I'm making it to eat with others, I add onions if people preferred it that way. With two contingents (e.g. onion-preferring adults and onion-fearing kids) I split it into two dishes before adding onions.

its just avo, lemon/lime juice, and some form of chilli (e.g. mexican chilli powder or tabasco or hot sauce). Maybe some finely diced tomato
