No I think those $1 "Italian" loaves at the grocery store are pretty fucking awesome to be honest with you

I can buy one and eat the whole damn thing by itself, no butter or anything

I prefer whole loaf sourdough with garlic cloves baked right in! Sooo good.

I suppose, if you like your bread to have the look and texture of a paving stone.

I've got focaccia rising in my cast iron pan and will be ready to bake in about 30 minutes. After its done I'm going to cut it into wedges for pan fried garlic bread.

oh man I had forgotten focaccia exists, gonna make some first thing in the morning! What did you put in it? I tend to sprinkle some sea salt and rosemary on top of the oil, maybe good olives if I happen to have some. Or tiny tomatoes.

I just sprinkling salt and oregano on it. For the garlic bread I mixed half a crushed garlic into some butter and spread it on the wedges and sprinkled on a little salt before frying it on the cast iron pan. The temperature is tricky to get nice browning of the bread without blackening the garlic.
