Propane or charcoal?

>> No.4587534

Charcoal when I have people over and grill for them.
Propane when I'm lazy and just want to fire up the grill for a steak or a couple of burgers for myself without having to dick around with lighting charcoal.

>> No.4587553

I'm afraid of propane. Charcoal or wood.

I throw in some wood chips on my propane grill when I want the smoke. Its superior to charcoal in just about every conceivable way. If I was doing a 12 hour slow smoke turkey I'd do charcoal, otherwise propane all the way.

Propane. The charcoal flavor gets old after a while.

Dirty little secret time:

If you're only cooking things that cook quick like burgers or steaks, it doesn't matter which one you choose.

Propane is just so much easier, and everything I cook on my propane grill still tastes delicious, so I'm going to have to side with propane.

>> No.4590802

I prefer propane and propane accessories, I dislike charcoal flavor and fail to see the appeal in making meat taste like chemical ash.

>> No.4590805

Wood fire.

Mesquite. Gives meat nice taste of wood.

I keep hearing people bring this up but none of them have anything to back it up. Any truth(sauce) to it or were you trolling?

I use Propane. It gives meat the nice taste of meat

Quick-lighting charcoals like Match Light are infamous for smelling like gasoline and leaving a taste akin to petroleum on foods. The effect is most noticeable when very familiar foods like beef and chicken are cooked on it.
Regular charcoal can also have this problem if it is thoroughly doused in charcoal lighter fluid beforehand.
To avoid this problem altogether, use a chimney-style charcoal starter.

Real men cook their meat in cast iron.

If i had to grill, propane. It's just easier...

Why would one ever want to cook with dinosaur farts?
