How do you guys make dried bananas?
I've been reading and people use the microwave and then put on a grill to rest.
Others soak them in orange juice.
What is the best tastier way to make them?

what's the matter, not a fan of jerky?

>> No.4576433

I've tried putting them in my food dehydrator before and they just turn to glue

the babnabna chips at the store have oil on them I think they fry them a bit

Do I look Amerifat to you?
Dehydrated foods are nasty not even astronauts eat that shit

Microwaves don't affect taste except for the fact that they cannot "brown" food because it heats water directly rather than using dry heat. Obviously that sucks for many foods but since dehydrating bananas has nothing to do with browning it would work fine here.

So microwave is fine?

Drying/curing meat isn't a strictly American thing.

>>4576448

You've clearly never burnt cheese in a microwave; it gets quite brown.

Indeed I haven't. It's very simple to watch the food and stop it when the cheese is properly melted but not overly so.

so... microwave is fine?

You could stick it in a toaster oven. Set to ~300-325 to dry them out.

>> No.4578027

Lemon juice and 200 F for 4 hours with a flip halfway through.
Slice them paper thin though.

Microwave don't just heat water...gawd that is the biggest fucking bullshit thing ever. Yes the frequency they run at affects water the best, but place a ceramic plate in the microwave and it'll get hot. And microwaves certainly can affect taste. Re-heat a piece of chicken in the microwave....it'll taste like shit. The energy causes an accelerated breakdown of fat in meats which gives them an off taste.

I have to say, three upper back, a gold crown( and that cost a lot of money and tears and the only gold I own ;the back uppers are departed but you have to brush. I love dried bananas in trial mix, with dried apples but is not cheap. I buy bananas almost every week .60 /lbs in the US. if about to go bad, I put them in the freezer. They will look like hell, but snip the end off ,squeeze, and use to make muffins or bread or just add the chips to cereal. lots of potassium . Do not mistake them for plantains. Both can be fried , but two different things; banana pudding, bananas foster, etc... but that is not what you asked. Dried banana chips. I always pick out the banana chips first, because i like them best. crunch. but is kind of like prunes ( they are just dried plums) or dried pineapple. very concentrated and probably not the wisest thing to eat if you have diabetes. An old saying in the america's- you don't buy green bananas because you could be dead before they are ripe. One of the few things almost everyone world wide, takes for granted. they have to grow, someone has to pick and harvest and get it there ( to us) <7 days. but banana chips are the best.
