Last night I tried a Dr, Pepper for the first time. Why do people like this shit? It's like someone decided to make a cough syrup flavored drink, complete with chemical aftertaste.

I like Dr Pepper because - to me at least - it's sweet but not as sweet (or perhaps not in the same way) as many other kinds of soda, and it has a... This might sound dumb but I'm not sure how else to describe it, but there's a sort of sharpness to it that I find really enjoyable.

Also, 41mg of caffeine probably has something to do with it as well, I'm sure. I've searched locally for caffeine-free Dr Pepper to see how it tastes, but given my experiences with Mexican Dr Pepper (made with sugar as opposed to the US kind made with HFCS), I'm not willing to order a 12-pack online to find out.

It seemed to be lacking something. HFCS-free versions of most every other variety of soda seem to be better, but somehow it just wasn't quite right with the Dr Pepper. It felt too sweet to me, which sounds weird as I know a lot of people feel that drinks with HFCS are too sweet in comparison to those made with cane sugar, but that was how it felt. Maybe it was too smooth? Like I said, part of what I like about Dr Pepper is that it has a bit of a sharpness too it - A bite, maybe? That might just be me though.
