Why not? Other wise the burger is to dry, dosn't go down as easy.

the question seems to be whether mustard is appropriate or not, which is apparently only a big deal in NYC. I say yes to mustard as mustard+ketchup = traditional burger flavor

A slight layer of mayonnaise on the top and bottom buns prevents the burger or toppings from making them soggy.

>dry burger
oh, so you just don't know how to cook a burger.

If you do it right, it shouldn't need anything at all.

>> No.4564889

I actually don't eat any type of sandwich without mayo. Ketchup is nasty though. Years before /ck/ or /fit/ or any of that, I didn't really like how sweet ketchup was.

>> No.4564894

It is common in the UK for girls, gays and southern folk to put mayonnaise on chips.

I've even seen someone have mayo on a bacon sandwich

Not that poster, and I agree that it won't /need/ anything, but just as spaghetti doesn't /need/ a sauce, a good sauce could greatly improve the plate of noodle-y carbs just as mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, cheese, bacon, raw onion, sautéed onion, sautéed mushrooms or whatever other condiment or topping the diner may desire could greatly improve the burger for him or her.
I can't think of a single wrong thing for a burger.

My favourite? Alderwood-smoked cheddar, mesquite-smoked bacon and a thin slice of raw granny smith apple with a little sweet-and-spicy Q sauce. That's not to say a standard beef patty with a slice of plastic-wrapped American cheese isn't good, too, just that I like that combination of toppings and condiments on my burger.

Waddaya like on yours?

Many Scots and Scousers I know eat fish and chips with mayonnaise. I cooked a chippy lunch today, actually, but didn't have it with mayonnaise myself; it didn't need it, it was so good!

Grilled chuck patty (not shittier ground beef), raw red onion and/or caramelized white onion, kosher dill pickles, tomato, lettuce, sharp cheddar, 2 parts ketchup/2 parts mustard/1 part mayo on a grilled bun, a fried egg and/or sauteed mushrooms if you're feeling adventurous

What is Americans' problem with mayonnaise? Seems like every American that's confronted with the existence is like "dayuum aint no way i gonna eat dat". Also I get the feeling that it's mostly black people that hate on mayonnaise.

Kick-ass dip for almost everything
1/2 cup mayo
1/4 cup ketchup
dash of worcester sauce
pinch of garlic powder
several pinches of black pepper

You faggots.

What is non-Americans' problem with making generalizations about Americans?

Just because a couple Americans don't like something doesn't mean that the entire country doesn't like it.

Stop being a closed-minded bigot.
