I recently discovered that I love stout beers.

Went to the grocery store and saw what I thought was regular Guinness. Got a six-pack of that stuff and loooooooved it. Turns out it was "extra stout" Guinness.

The problem is that now regular Guinness tastes like water compared to the deliciousness of extra stout.

What other beers can I try that are similar to extra stout Guinness?

Old Rasputin and Spaten Optimator come to mind.

Extra Stout is definitely better than the regular Guinness. I like both, but I won't deny its superiority.

Gonna write those down and look for them tomorrow night. Thanks for the reommendation.

I forgot to mention I picked one of these up in a "mix n match" 6-pack the other day. Was surprisingly good.

I just got through a 6 pack of Left Hand's Nitro Milk Stout, very nice, and not thick and heavy as a Foreign Extra. It was quite nice, even in the middle of a hot summer day.

Duly noted. Thanks for the recommendation.

Most imperial stouts are delicious; great lakes blackout stout, stone russian imperial stout, also sierra nevada stout is delicious

Optimator is a doppelbock for what it's worth; it's a style that CAN be vaguely stoutish, but I wouldn't say Optimator is in particular. Still good though. Ayinger Celebrator is on the stoutish side, but I'm pretty sure it's seasonal. Grab it if you see it

I'll reiterate Sierra Nevada as a near-ubiquitous stout, and throw in Smuttynose robust porter and Founders porter. The line between stout and porter is sufficiently blurred enough, but these two are basically stouts. Super roasty and chocolately and delicious

Sprecher makes nice dark beers. Try their Bavarian Black.

Otherwise just go into a good beer store and grab anything labeled stout or porter.

If you can get it, an excellent Irish Stout is O'Hara Leann Follain. Probably my favourite stout. http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/carlow-oharas-leann-follain/100788/

Extra Stout Guinness is the same price as the normal shit in my area. It's unpopular here because it's "too strong."

Sprecher's Black Bavarian is an awesome beer, not exactly a stout, but if you like stouts you would probably like it

They probably sell it at his gas station.

you are probably thinking of KBS

regular breakfast stout is pretty easy to find except in the summer, and while not as great as KBS, is still an excellent beer. Up here pretty much every grocery and liquor store carries Founders, and this has been the case with most midwestern states I have been to

Nothing else to say, but u my nigga. Stouts are the first beers I ever really enjoyed and remain my favorite.

Though part of me is afraid that I enjoy them because most people around me just glub down IPAs and so I'm differentiating myself to feel special.
