There was this Chinese-American restaurant in my city that sadly changed ownership. The food sucks now, but the side of rice you'd get with your meal (unless you asked for steamed/plain) was simply fried rice with eggs, and soy sauce. I always preferred it to the peas and carrots you normally get. It just seemed lighter and a better compliment to the rich sauces the main dishes were cooked in.
