It's horribly disgusting 75% of the time. I don't know why I keep doing it. I think it's because there was a really good japanese one at the mall I went to as a kid that cooked the food on the spot when you ordered it, and I assume the other places will be Ok.

I usually get beef teriyaki with vegetables and white rice from the corner stall, their eel is pretty good too.
another japanese place opened up down on the other side recently and they sell ramen which I got once and never at there again, there was so much fucking cabbage in it and little else except the egg so it smelled and tasted like a big bowl of hot fart, while I was eating it people were making faces as they walked by because of how strong the smell was.
the sushi place closed down because people did not want mall sushi, I never ate there myself because I wouldn't trust the quality from a mall.

There was another place that just recently closed which was there for years, "bourbon street" where they claimed "authentic cajun" but it was just generic chinese takeout with sticky sweet sauces on it. There was nothing like etouffee, gumbo, catfish, no sausages or anything, it was orange chicken with fried rice.

I worked in foodservice for five years at places like that. cafeterias, whatever. You can tell a lot about the state of a kitchen from looking at the storefront. My standards are not high at all.

There used to be this really good place in a Miami mall called The Potato Sack where you could get some (deep)fried potato skins slathered in sour cream and processed cheese product. It was probably about 10,000 calories but good lord were those delicious.

I've also been across the US several times, and around the world a few. Think I'll stay in NYC. The food is great, there's great shit going on and I can make a decent living.

If I had to leave I'd consider LA, London, Paris and Tokyo, but I've hung out in those places, and I prefer NYC.

I find some malls to be creepy as well. Not the popular and busy malls. I'm talking about the malls where half the stores are boarded up and there is nobody walking around the main hallways. Usually there is a fountain in the middle with the water turned off, remnants of better days. Everything looks exactly like the early 90's malls that I remember going to so much, only all the people are gone and you can actually hear the music over the dead silence. The songs are usually hits from the 80's, like they have been for the last 25 years.
