What does /ck/ think of Cracker Barrel?

I think the food is delicious.

Cracker Barrel is really gross! :(

>> No.4476919

Its been a while, but I'm always pleasantly surprised how cheap the steak and eggs is for the amount of food you get. That hashbrown casserole is pretty good too.

>> No.4476953

Eh, it's pretty good.
Pretty fucking good breakfast. Lunch and dinner are okay.

>> No.4476967

Good cheap breakfast.
Very few black people, considering the low prices.

>> No.4476998

I have friends who work there.

I was invited to a birthday party there, once, as well (some of the people attending being employees). The server was acting all bro-tier and stuff with everyone else. but towards me, I think she had some kind of unwarranted problem. I was one of two people out of a party of ten to leave a tip, funnily enough.

The food's OK. When it comes to breakfast, I'm more of a Waffle House guy anyway.

funny, because it's all my dad eats when we go out for breakfast on vacation (I'm black)
I'd prefer not to go to Cracker Barrel because I've had it too many times to care for it anymore, and no waffles

>> No.4477026

>>4477016

No you're not.

>> No.4477052

It's a big cheap plate of decent food with fairly pulled off old country charm.

I like getting the country fried steak, mashed potatoes, dumplings, and mac n' cheese with cornbread and a soup. Carb overload here I come!

I only wish they served alcohol as well, but the Stewart's soda is bretty good.

>> No.4477102

I don't have cracker barrel near me, closest one is almost 2 hours away so while it isn't my 1st choice I definitely do go there when im in the area
all I have by me that compares is like ihop or dennys & diners
the diners are decent but cracker barrel has a nice menu & stewarts is best root beer

Nope, not even close.

The tactic for shitting outside of the house is either finding a hotel, or going to the girliest place you can find and use the shitter there.

Bed Bath and Beyond or Linens and Things usually have clean mensrooms.

sorry no, i dont eat at those places.

but when it came from long ass road trips, id rather shit at cracker barrell than a gas station.

>> No.4477268

Gimmicky shop on the exterior, pleasant lunch environment on the interior.
Blackberry pancakes are the best, sometimes there is a nice light crisp to them too.
I don't feel like I'm eating a stack of butter/grease like in other commercial breakfast diners.

You must not have a golden corral near by, then.

>> No.4477302

Cracker Barrel? Not bad, not great. I'd take it over most chain restaurants in the same price range. If I was on the freeway in an unfamiliar area and hungry I'd def stop there instead of the other shitholes on the freeway. I haven't been in a long time, I recall enjoying the breakfast foods and the meatloaf.

I really like it, never had something there I didn't really enjoy. I only get it on road trips and then immediately regret it after because I eat way too much super filling food and then have to sit in a car for the next few hours.

My girlfriend's family likes going there. I think the food is disgusting and over-priced. All around me, old folks and people who are used to shit food and think Cracker Barrel is a treat.

If you pine for the foodservice version of American country cooking it's OK. If going out for breakfast is your thing they are probably a decent option. If you don't know how to cook and want home cooking dishes like meatloaf or chicken and dumplings they have them.

It is a nostalgia theme restaurant, and those bother me on principle. I don't like eating in a corporate reconstruction of the "good ole days."

It's not the kind of place I would seek out. If I'm on the road and in the mood for that kind of food (rare case) I'd look for a mom and pop diner. Good examples of those are getting harder to find, though.

>> No.4478493

I'm in an awkward space where there's one an hour north and an hour south from me, so I go whenever I'm on a road trip (which is maybe once a year).

Pretty good, one of the top diner chains, reasonably priced and I fucking love their little gift shop (dat candy)

Overall 8/10

These both sum it up well. It still is nostalgia in a different, less old timey way for me, it reminds me of roadtripping with the family. Nowadays I'm sure I could just look up shit on their cellphones to find a decent cheap place off the highway but it's a nice security blanket.

I'm a sucker for the whole nostalgia marketing though. I always end up buying something completely unnecessary in the shop.
