We need more sugary goodness on /ck, where are all my sugar addicts at?

Made Mexican hot chocolate snickerdoodles today and am in heaven. Was skeptical about a little bit of chili powder in a dessert, but the little kick of spiciness with the intense chocolate flavor blows my mind.

We need these in America. Though I guess the Americanized version would be Starbucks Kit Kats.

Oddly enough, a few years ago, 7-Elevens in the Philly area were selling Japanese junk foods and snacks. Ramune, curry-and-cheese Cup-Noodle and matcha Kit Kats were all available at that time.

Is there even a Japanese population in Philly? NYC or LA/SF I can understand, but Philly?

There's a small one, yeah. It's not as large as the Chinese, Viet or Korean populations, but there is a visible Japanese community in the Philadelphia area, particularly in and around the Main Line. There is a Japanese language Friends school in the Philadelphia suburbs boasting 230 students from preschool (age 4) through grade 12 (age 18). Assuming all of them are ethnically Japanese and every two students represents one family, that's over 100 Japanese-speaking households around Philadelphia. Not a very large number, I know, but it's something.

These vegan cinnamon rolls from a shop in front of UC Berkeley. Going to have five root canals within a year at this rate.
