Hi there /ck/, I just acquired a slow cooker for the first time, and I'm looking for some cheap, high protein recipes to try out! I've seen the boring slap some lamb and veg and leave it ones, I'm after any interesting ones and personal favorites please!

I just did this yesterday and it is to die for

1 pack spicy italian sausage
4 chicken breast
~2 cups chicken broth
1 bag of fingerling potatos, or a 1lb bag of small potatos
1 bell pepper ( i did orange but i'm sure whatever you want will jive)
1 large crown of brocolli
4 medium size mushrooms
2 sprigs of rosemary
2 bay leaves
~1/2 tspn cayenne pepper,
1/2 tspn chilli pepper
1/2 tspn paprika
1 tspn cracked pepper
2 pinches of salt
1 small fresh onion or about 1/4 cup of dried onion flakes
couple carrots
couple table spoons of butter
6 cloves of garlic (more or less to your preference)

>chop everything up throw it in, have the veggies be on the bottom as veggies cook slower than meat in crock pot
>put all the spices in, melt butter in microwave and put the chicken broth in and give it a stir so veggies are covered.
>brown the meats, they don't have to be fully cooked, layer on top, add some simple seasoning salt or whatever to the chicken.
>cover that bitch and set on low temp for about 6 hours.
>enjoy on rice or on its own as a stew.

Beef bourguignon
Take the cheapest hunk of beef available, add the cheapest red wine bottle, some fucking vegetables and mushrooms. Done.

Seriously, this tastes better if you use the cheapest ingredients possible.

2 cups water
2 bay leaves
Curry spices to taste
3lbs pork shoulder

Slap some beef (soared first), slap some chili, pour stock. Enjoy yourself some chili con carne.

Or find a gumbo recipe for slow cooker. Slow cookers make awesome gumbo.
