So i was recently looking up whether HP sauce/Brown sauce etc whatever you want to call it was served in some other countries.

I'm wondering if any none-British people have tried it here and what /ck/s opinion is on it?

Bump, and i guess if you do use it regularly whats your favorite brand?

American here. I have a bottle of HP sauce and really, it just tastes like thick worcestershire sauce to me. I.. guess I use Heinz? It's the bottle that pops up on Wikipedia for it. The 'fruity' variety sounds like it'd be more my taste...

It's pretty widely available in the U.S. Any well-stocked grocery carries it, though you won't really find it in restaurants. It tastes...fine, I guess. I'm not a huge fan of bottled condiments anyway, but it doesn't seem like anything special.

Isn't it basically A1?

Yeah, that's really what it tastes like. Not ingredient-for-ingredient but the general concept.

This. It's available in just about any supermarket.

To me it is very similar in taste to A1, which makes sense since both are a tamarind and vinegar based "brown sauce".

spain here. It is available in large supermarkets but I doubt general people knows or consumes it. Must be for expats or tourist.

It tastes alright, but it's completely unremarkable. I actually forgot about it u til OP reminded me. Guess it makes sense that it's British.

Swede here. Have a bottle of HP sauce sitting around. Tastes ok but not really sure what to use it with. For some reason it goes well with Pyttipanna

This stuff is delicious, i've been adding it to my food since I was a kid. Pies, chips, eggs, sausages anything goes well with it. In the past few years as I've started to cook more I've started adding it to my food, in both sauces and as a marinate. It has a delectable aromatic lustre that I can't find in other sauces. For anyone that hasn't tried the stuff, I think it's easiest described as a mix between ketchup, O.K. sauce, A1 and perhaps a bit of sugar and more herbs. Friends hate it though, though they love my cooking and I add it frequently.

Im in the U.S., been using the fruity one for years. Mostly with pork, its also good on BLTs.

Dutchbro here, I have a bottle in the fridge which I use for bacon sandwiches. It's also really good in shepherd's pie.

They have it in Australia. I find that it can be a little acidic depending on the food it's on.
