why don't you /ck/?

>> No.4421631

Not every week but I do this often. The fucking crispy skin, man. Plus a whole chicken here is maybe 3.50$.

do you live in 1970?

I think a cornish game hen is like 2.50 here

A whole uncooked roaster is like $7.50 here, and that's on sale.

>> No.4421661

Deep south, so yes. They're technically fryer chickens but...

>lol, cornish game hens are also about 2.50$ here too though

I've done that before, and it's good value.

I prefer to eat pork or beef, though.

>2013
>eating chicken all day every day

this is ignoring the obvious fact that a chicken wont last anywhere near a week if you eat it for 2 meals per day.

i'll just be over here with my variety. dark meat costs the same price per lb as a whole chicken anyway.

>> No.4421669

>tfw you live in a country that barely has any ovens large enough for a chicken and you're spending a minimum of 20 dollars when you can even find a whole chicken

>> No.4421686

Ive done this when i was poor as fuck i used to butcher whole chickens and use the bones to make soup.

>> No.4421718

I have a question about chicken thighs: do they usually have more tendons and grisly shit than breasts? The only time I've ever had a thigh (pre-cooked) it was full of all kinds of stuff you wouldn't want to eat. tendons, bones, discoloured tough meat etc

The thigh is the fatter part of the chicken and yes it contains bones and other shit like that if not gutted properly.
The breast on the other hand is just pure lean chicken meat. But it gets dry rather quick.

My boyfriend and I do this!
We don't like to be wasteful.

chicken thigh has 1 bone in it. nothing disgusting in it either (maybe i'm just used to it). basically a smaller, dark meat chicken thigh attatched to a bone.

if you could find an image of what you're talking about, maybe i could explain better but all i get when i make thighs is chicken and bone and skin (unless going boneless skinless of course)

>>4421626
buying a whole chicken is way cheaper but why stop there
why not raost beef or pork?

>basically a smaller, dark meat chicken thigh attatched to a bone.

you mean chicken breast attached to a bone

chicken thighs are the best part on a chicken, hands down

/ck/ how do I into chicken? Im from /fit/ and prepare chicken in bulk, but it's bland as shit. How can I make chicken better tasting without adding any calories? Lemon? Spices?

btw im a grill

Hunting's even cheaper.

Shoot a deer, butcher, vacuum seal, and freeze. You'll have meat all year.

>> No.4422568

>>4422537
Try to mix it up a little bit.
Make it with curry powder one time, make it with paprika and chili powder the other time.
Also herbs or garlic.

>shoot a deer
>meat all year

hahahahahah. you can shoot an elk and feed a family for a month or so tops. a deer will last a week if that.

How big is your family? A stewed leg of a small deer will last a good 3-4 days for 3 people. And that's at 2 meals a day.

Much sad.

You are allowed to put veggies in too, and bread on the side isn't a crime.

Not every week but pretty regular. Picking up a chicken late at night before the store closes when it's reduced and stretching it out for a few meals is how I've managed to eat a reasonable diet whilst being a broke student

Dat delicious homemade stock in soup with homemade bread, hnnggh

Like rubbing the thawed chicken with different spices?
