What can I make with tofu that doesn't suck, isn't salad, and isn't a sandwich spread.

I would make some kind of quiche, but I don't have pie crust.

What kind of tofu? For firm, pic related is my favourite but there's nothing wrong with some pad thai.

I've got Extra-firm and Medium-firm.

I've never cooked it before. Anything to keep in mind?

Oops, I forgot. Trying to avoid deep frying too.

Sorry, I'm cooking for my mom and she's on some kind of diet. It's ridiculous

Pad thai then. Remember to marinate the tofu before hand because it sucks up a lot of flavour. You can find any number of good recipes on google, Good Eats also has an episode about it on youtube.

Can I suggest Mapo tofu? it literally is the only way I know how to prep tofu in, other than deep fry.

This sounds good, I'll leave the thread open to more suggestions while I work out making this

Please add pork if you do this, I just learnt from the Wikipedia that some of you White people do mapo tofu vegan. I-I didn't know this was acceptable. I-i-i-it's not the s-same...

Fuck, don't have any pork.
Can I use chop meat?
I'm also lacking on all of these Asian spices and liquids. How can I make an Americanized version of this?

>> No.4412668

Buy soft tofu. So fucking rich and tasty you can eat it alone.

>> No.4412672

>>4412667
Any meat is fine, I guess. What's the Americanized version of this? As long as there's bean paste and chilli everything, it sound fine.

ma po dofu is pretty good.

Just find a good authentic chinese cookbook.

I've had it with a touch of ground beef plenty of times in Shanghai.

Easiest way would be find the nearest Asian market and buy a spice packet from them.

I'm in one of the whitest towns in the midwest and we have an asian market, so you probably do as well.

Also if you want to try out some different dishes using tofu, just find a Chinese restaurant around that isn't just Americanized fast food. If you see other Chinese eating there, that's a really good sign. They may only have it on the Chinese language menu. Even if they don't have it, it can't hurt to ask.
