You should definitely look for a dedicated sweets shop if you can- they do lots of unusual or old fashioned sweets like dandelion and burdock sweets, coltsfoot rock, barley sugar, pear drops, blackberry pips, cinammon and clove balls, proper humbugs and bullseyes, soor plooms, rhubarb and custard, chocolate limes, rose and violet buds, etc, as well as all the gummy or packaged stuff.
