It's made by the same people who make sriracha. I keep plenty of both on hand. Sambal is more for cooking with or mixing into things while sriracha is great for dipping things in.

When I visited my folks in Macau, there was no sriracha, but instead sambal. It's vastly superior, albeit a little harder to use for dunking. Great mixed in with some rice and soy sauce.
