Haven't been in the food scene for a while. What are the new fads? I'm hoping this one's over.

Is pink salt still a thing?

Its not a fad just because it happens to be awesome on almost everything

>> No.4298518

i found out today that the pasta cooker at work is salted with himalayan salt, doubt it would taste any different and its not even noted on the menu just a fucking waste of money. as for new fads that shitty garlic and sugar sauce is still hailed as the second coming of christ and coconut water is getting popular as well as bubble tea

Alternate grains are pretty big.

>> No.4298543

i get at least 10 orders a day to add quinoa as a mod. gochujang and white balsamic are kinda popular and a cook in ny told me alternative grains for pasta is popular there, buckwheat for example, i guess its like udon

>> No.4298554

ashes are popular on dishes, ash of onion adds a smoky strong flavor very good

>> No.4300255

lol these asian fads are funny cuz i've been drinking bubble tea ever and using sriracha since I was a kid. So maybe like 15 years. Though I have been using sriracha more now than when I was younger, but that also from developing a taste for hotness.

It's people like that who make actual celiacs (i.e my mother) look bad. I guarantee half those people are self-diagnosed, it's not exactly a common disease to have.

>> No.4300264

>>4300259
not nearly as many who claim to need to be gluten free

>> No.4300271

I'm tired of this wheat bread fad. It tastes bad.

what are you implying? Celiac is believed to be autoimmune. Autoimmune disorders of all kinds are rising, not just psychosomatic/fashionable ones... i.e. no one fakes crohn's. There are several hypotheses explaining this, none have been proven.

Be a cook for about a year, then think about how many gluten free fucks try to tell you they're allergic, then come back and try to tell me it's not insufferable hypochondriac attention whoreing diet fad scum
