If you buy the large trays of ground beef, the ones that are like 8lbs, they are like $1.50/lbs cheaper than the smaller trays by default. Then wait until it's on sale, and freeze your own. You are paying for fat content that will cook out of the patties and for being a lazy asshole. buying preformed patties is not being thrifty.

Bottom line, though, is that it doesn't make a real difference whether you eat 1 or 6 meals a day, as long as you are in a caloric deficit. That's the only, simple way to lose weight.

I'm a recovering anorexic. Me and all of my pro-ana buddies can attest that after a certain period of weigh loss, if you're not eating often enough your loss will "bottom out" and stop. Even if you lower your current calorie intake, somehow your body (almost) maintains itself. This is why we eat tiny amounts constantly, and it works. I work at the meat counter in a med-high-end grocery store. I can grind myself up anything I want, whenever I want. (Last time I did 75% tri-tip, 25% untrimmed skirt steak.)

Bubba Burgers are perfectly fine. 100% pure chuck. (Which makes a great burger.) No fillers, no additives, no preservatives, nothing. 100% beef, and not ends or trim, 100% chuck. Better then what run-of-the-mill grocery stores throw in the "grind" bin.

Anyway, there's this fat as fuck lacky that hangs out with the trailerpark supervisor, who is an alcoholic. The dude ONLY eats cheeseburgers. No matter what, he just downs cheeseburgers non-fucking-stop. His body looks normal, but he has this enormous gut. If that isn't bad enough, he never wears a shirt. I mean, no bullshit. No shirt ever, it's nearly 30 out, and I saw the guy earlier this afternoon still rocking no shirt.

Him and the supervisor pretty much just pound alcohol all day and bother the rest of us. Really, he wouldn't be that bad of a guy, but he just hangs out with the asshole trailerpark supervisor. Fuck, the guy's gut is GIGANTIC, I wish I could grab a picture for you guys.

I'm rambling, so I'll just leave a small story here. The guy also doesn't like to shower. So, one day in Summer, he had a grease and sweat gleam to him. One of the guys who has lived here forever just got tired of his bullshit one day. He tosses him on the ground, starts to hose him down, and got someone to actually bring out DISH SOAP to toss on this guy while he hosed him down. Like half of the park watched this shit unfold. Fucking HILARIOUS.

I was one of those lucky bastards that had hypethyroidism. Did wonders for my weight loss with the small drawback of sweating, shaking, and shitting myself silly for a year. When it was fixed I 155lbs (normally am 180).

For next two years I skipped breakfast, had either 2 chili dogs and ice cream or 3-4 baloney/cheese/mayo sammiches and a couple little debbies cakes for lunch. For supper (9pm) I either had a big mac + fries + sundae or a pile of taco bell and some ice cream. Weekends I made hotwings and tried to make up for my lack of veges with curries. I continually gained weight.

Then I got a job painting houses. For 8hrs a day I was either climbing up and down a ladder, walking in a crouched position trimming baseboards, or pushing a 6-7lb roller up and down a wall.

I went from 6'1" 270lbs (sz 42 pants) --> 150lbs (sz 34 pants) over those 2 yrs, and I was still losing at that point. Healthy, energetic, and strong as a bull and never felt better. One day I actually moved myself at the speed of running for the first time in 9yrs. I had so little fat that you could make out all the fine details of my skull from 5 feet away. Weiner was 1" longer from losing the pubic fat. Life was good.

Got an indoor job, gave up ice cream (odd craving went away, I never really cared for it) and started eating veges, 3 meals, and less total daily calories than before, but no exercise. I immediately gained about a pound a week with those two changes. At the one year point I was a little over 200 and started walking 3hrs a week, using stairs @work, etc. With that small change I instantly stopped gaining (not losing tho). I'm happy with it. I don't have 40hrs a week to exercise, but I do certainly wish my job had exercise built into it like before. Might be an idea for y'all

Ran out of room but I learned a neat trick I wanted to pass along. Biggest stumbling block to exercise for me was the dread of boredom. I always started to enjoy it as soon as I started, but getting the ball rolling was the problem. What I did was for certain activities I would just make it a point to walk there and back. I visit my granny every other week, so I walk there and back. 1/2hr each way. If I'm feeling up to it, when me and the ol lady are out running around I'll have her let me out of the car a certain distance from the house and I walk it. Ya don't really miss those short amounts of time. In fact, when visiting the mother in law, it gives us a good excuse to leave earlier to compensate. Nobody argues with your intent to exercise. Never.

I tinkered a bit with parking at the end of the parking lot to have a longer walk, taking the stairs to the 4th floor instead of the lift, etc. Works ok, but I think the longer hour-long walks were more beneficial. Especially if maintained at a brisk pace.
