Is there anyone in the world that actually likes lima beans?

>> No.4208321

I put them in vegetable soups.

Cabbage, carrots, corn, celery, onion, garlic, potatoes and lima beans.

that mac and cheese looks abominable

I like most beans now but remember hating lima beans for some reason when I was a kid

all I can remember is they seemed dry

why don't I see them in the store when I get beans for my chili?

>> No.4208376

I really like lima beans. There was a time in my life where I lost my taste for them, however. In the 75th Ranger Regiment's pre-Ranger program in the early 90s, we were (for some unknown reason) force fed those damn things. And the generation before mine, they had military c-rations called ham and lima beans. They quickly adopted the title, "ham and motherfuckers."

But I definitely buy and eat them now.

>> No.4208382

I fucking love lima beans. I cook them until soft with a ham hock, salt and pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. I could eat them every day.

>> No.4208425

don't think i've ever seen them anywhere. there are some apparently ubiquitous vegetables like lima beans, watercress, and chicory that i've just never seen

>> No.4208430

>>4208425
I don't even know what chicory is but watercress I've at least heard of, don't the British have some popular sandwich with watercress?

Go to one of those senior citizen buffets, you'll see them served in all of those.

I hated them as a kid, then grew to tolerate them as I got older.

Take frozen lima beans and nuke them for about 10 min. or so with a little water and salt. Add a pat of butter when you take them out. Really good.

The lima's in OP's pic look really good too.

>> No.4208528

In Basic, we had lima beans one day at the range for chow....
A bunch of people started throwing them away and the 1st Sergeant goes ape shit but instead of smoking the dogshit out of us, made us all eat lodselimabeans. He then asked, "Who here likes lima beans?"

I raised my hand. "Good, finish off these beans, private." He then smoked the dog shit out of the rest of the company while I ate about half a pound of lima beans while telling them how delicious lima beans are and how they're great for you and that I'd make a better soldier than all of them simply because I liked lima beans.

Biggest wat moment I've ever experienced and I watched a Taliban fighter run half a mile with nothing but a rusted-to-shit sword at a fucking Bradley.

Did you shoot him?

>> No.4208580

>>4208574
Someone did. You can bet on that.

>> No.4208590

>>4208580

So you watched him charge at your fellow soldiers with a sword for half a mile, but assumed someone else would take care of the problem?

Is this standard?

Sage for off topic.

Yes, but that doesn't look like any lima beans I ever had.
Sometimes I wonder whether we're even talking about the same thing,
like when people hate tomatoes because they're tasteless.

>> No.4208617

>>4208590
No. I didn't.

We were dumbstruck. He charged at a fucking miniature tank with a sword.

I love lima beans, but then I was introduced to them in the south, all smothered in butter and salt. enough butter and salt on almost anything and it's eatable

>> No.4208834

I use lima beans in soup, tastes great
